Full Description

ABOUT THE MASSACHUSETTS TECHNOLOGY COLLABORATIVE: As a unique public agency, the Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) supports the business formation and growth in the state’s technology sector, helping Massachusetts lead the global digital economy. The Massachusetts Broadband Institute (MBI) is a division of MassTech and serves as the central broadband office for the state. WHY JOIN OUR TEAM: Join our team of dedicated professionals to help drive our mission and make a meaningful impact in the communities we serve. MBI is at the forefront of a transformational, once-in-a-generation opportunity to close the digital divide. Through historic federal investment, MBI is developing and managing programs that will expand access to affordable and reliable broadband service, create new jobs and economic opportunities, enable increased access to healthcare services, support enriching educational experiences of students, and improve quality of life for our residents. MBI is leading the charge to achieve the vision of closing the digital divide, and we are looking for people with the dedication and passion to make this vision a reality. In Massachusetts, over 98% of people have access to broadband, ranking 5th in the U.S. However, there is still mission-critical work to be done to close remaining gaps, address affordability, and expand access to internet-connected devices and digital literacy training. MBI is leading the state’s strategy to achieve 100% universal service and meaningful adoption of the internet to operate in our ever-growing digital world. THE ROLE: MBI is seeking a highly organized, mission-oriented Project Coordinator of Reporting and Operations to join our team! This role will have the opportunity to support innovative broadband infrastructure programs that make a difference in people's lives. This position will play a key role in providing operational support to Program Managers leading federally funded capital investment programs, in particular, the Residential Retrofit, RANGE, and Gap Networks Programs. These programs are funded by the U.S. Treasury’s Capital Projects Fund (CPF), a program launched as part of the national American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). The MBI team is committed to bringing Internet for All to the Commonwealth. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative team, work on a highly visible economic development priority, and make an impact in the world while building project and program management skills. RESPONSIBILITIES: Support MBI Program Managers with management of data systems, tools, and processes involving information management, grantee communication, and financial tracking. Manage MBI’s inputs to federal reporting requirements, ensuring approvals from Program Managers and MBI Leadership and interfacing with grantees and the Executive Office of Economic Development, as appropriate. This will involve coordinating directly with grantees to retrieve project specific information. Support MBI Program Managers with entering, updating, and tracking financial contract information, such as invoices and amendments, in MassTech’s financial management software. Support MBI Program Managers with risk and issue management documentation. Drive operational improvements across the CPF portfolio to ensure harmony across programs and adoption of best practice and standard operating procedures. Assist in the planning and execution of special projects and events for the CPF portfolio. This may include a combination of virtual and in-person events. Ensure project deliverables, reporting, and invoicing are received on-time, of high quality, and in compliance with contract requirements. Attend offsite meetings as required; often not accessible by public transit. Experience Experience in project management or related fields is a plus. Experience with federal or state reporting is a plus. Industry certification(s); subject matter expertise with telecom, broadband or public administration; or experience with grant administration and management are a plus. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Collaborative team player. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. Interest in continuous process improvement. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities. Critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Familiarity with databases and quantitative tools, such as Airtable and Excel. Eager learners who are motivated by this work are encouraged to apply. ** This position requires candidates to be able to work at our Westborough or Boston Massachusetts office at least two days per week. This is not a fully remote position. ** MassTech offers a hybrid work schedule and a competitive total rewards package.
