Job Description OCI Architect – Hardware / Servers Team Overview The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) team is revolutionizing end-to-end data center planning, design, construction and operations by developing innovative software solutions. We aim to create a seamless bridge between digital and physical infrastructure, ensuring efficient management and automation. By standardizing data center building and implementing advanced analytics, we streamline data center design and construction, enabling rapid scalability. With a focus on automation and AI integration, OCI is poised to lead the industry in cost-effective, efficient data center management, making it accessible and adaptable for future technological advancements. Role Overview The OCI Architect – Hardware / Servers will be responsible for leading system-level design and integration for GPU-dense servers and next-generation infrastructure. This role requires deep expertise in low-level kernel software, firmware, and bare-metal server management. You will work closely with GPU vendors (NVIDIA, AMD) and OEM/ODM partners to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability across AI and HPC workloads designing and leading the hardware / server architecture that powers Oracle’s next generation data center infrastructure. This role will focus on developing scalable and resilient software systems that enable and enhance performance in multiple areas of Data center Management and Bare-metal management. The Architect will partner with engineering, operations, and data center delivery teams to define standards, ensure interoperability, and accelerate automation for data center operations worldwide. Location: Remote Key Responsibilities • Define and drive the software architecture strategy for data center management and automation platforms. • Lead the design and integration of automation software related to compute and data storage as part of a centralized function to create cohesive data center management solutions. • Provide technical leadership across global data center projects, ensuring software systems are scalable, secure, and fault tolerant. • Collaborate with hardware, networking, and operations teams to align software design with data center requirements. • Develop reference architectures, design patterns, and technical roadmaps for data center software. • Evaluate and select technologies, frameworks, and tools for data center automation and monitoring. • Mentor and guide software development teams, setting best practices in coding, testing, and deployment. • Partner with vendors and external stakeholders to integrate third-party systems with Oracle’s data center platforms. • Ensure compliance with enterprise standards, security policies, and regulatory requirements. Basic Requirements • 15+ years of professional experience in software development, with strong expertise in system design, distributed systems, and automation platforms. • 10+ years of experience specifically building and delivering software solutions for data center environments, including DCMI, BMS, and data center automation. • Proven track record of architecting large-scale, mission-critical systems with high availability and performance. • Strong knowledge of modern programming languages (e.g., Java, C++, Go, Python) and cloud-native technologies (containers, Kubernetes, service mesh). • Hands-on experience with APIs, integration frameworks, and microservices architectures. • Deep understanding of monitoring, telemetry, and control systems used in datacenters. • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and present to executives. • Experience working in global, cross-functional organizations with complex datacenter environments. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 10 more years of software engineering or related experience.
