Providing personal care and support to individuals with mobility challenges in a live-in setting.
Experience in home healthcare, physical strength for transfers, and ability to live in Manhattan for at least a year.
Live in Personal Care Assistant – Manhattan, NY for January 2026 We are seeking a flexible, dependable, and compassionate live in personal care assistant to support our twin adult daughters in a private home setting. Both girls are full time motorized wheelchair users with cerebral palsy. They need assistance in bathing, dressing, grooming and toileting, as well as some light housekeeping. The position is live-in and a private room in their apartment, for your use alone, will be available to you for the duration of your employment with us. This is an ideal position for someone who would like to live rent free in midtown Manhattan for a minimum of one year (longer if desired) to save up for future projects, schooling, etc. It is a full-time position, split into two daily shifts. The hours are 8 AM to 12 PM or 9 AM to 1 PM in the morning, and 7 PM to 11 PM in the evening, Monday through Friday. My daughters have daytime assistants who are responsible for them during the day. So, you will have a ~7-hour break between shifts, when errands can be done, study, rest time, hobbies, sightseeing, gym, etc. can be pursued. Weekends are free with the understanding that if for any reason the Saturday morning assistant does not show up, you would need to help cover that shift until the afternoon person came. Any extra time will be compensated for on an hourly basis. This position is under the New York Consumer Directed Personal Care Assistant Program (CDPAP). It is not paid privately. The pay is around $20 an hour during training, and around $25 an hour after the first two months or so. Experience in home healthcare settings and knowledge of assisting with ADLs is highly desirable but not required. Physical strength and/or height (5’4 or taller) is helpful, as wheelchair transfers require lifting the clients from bed to wheelchair, and wheelchair to toilet or shower chair. Please apply with your resume along with your email and phone number, and either I or one of my daughters, Anastasia, will contact you. Ideally, you will be able to travel to NYC for an in person interview and paid training before we mutually commit to your longer term employment with us. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $20.00 - $26.00 per hour Expected hours: No less than 40 per week Benefits: • Flexible spending account • Health insurance • Paid sick time • Paid time off • Paid training Application Question(s): • How tall are you? Height helps for wheelchair transfers. Work Location: In person
