Position Summary The Associate Executive Director (AED) will work in partnership with the Senior Executive Director to lead and manage operations for the membership, aquatics, health and wellness, and family programs at the Marin YMCA. This includes oversight of a diverse range of programs such as swim lessons, personal training, collaboration in facilitating our family programs across departments, external partnerships, group exercise, wellness programs, and outreach. The AED will supervise program directors, staff, and volunteers to ensure high-quality service delivery and foster a positive impact on the community. The position is the lead operations role of the Marin YMCA health and wellness facility and will have oversight of membership sales and member experience: including member communications, conflict management and member code of conduct violation process oversight. The position works closely with facility and property management to ensure safe and effective operating conditions are in place and maintained. Additionally, this role supports the branch board, may lead a board committee, and contributes to association-wide leadership teams. Job Responsibilities Program Management • Lead and oversee membership, aquatics, health and wellness, and family programming to meet organizational goals and address community needs. • Ensure alignment of programs with the YMCA’s mission, policies, and strategic priorities. • Adapt program offerings based on community feedback and emerging trends to maintain relevance and engagement. Leadership and Team Development • Provide leadership and direction to program directors, staff, and volunteers to foster an inclusive, collaborative, and professional culture. • Support professional development through coaching, training, and mentorship opportunities. • Serve as a lead HR contact, addressing concerns in partnership with the Senior Executive Director and centralized HR team. Community and Stakeholder Engagement • Build and nurture relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and donors to strengthen the YMCA’s presence and impact. • Lead community outreach and fundraising initiatives, promoting a culture of philanthropy. • Collaborate with the branch board and lead a designated board committee to support strategic objectives. Financial and Resource Management • Develop and manage branch budgets in collaboration with the Senior Executive Director. • Drive financial sustainability through effective budget oversight, program revenue generation, and fundraising strategies. • Support grant management and ensure compliance with funding requirements. Operations and Facility Management • Maintain a safe, welcoming, and efficient branch environment for members and participants. • Implement operational improvements to enhance program delivery and member experience. • Ensure compliance with safety, risk management, and operational standards. Cross-functional Collaboration • Represent the branch in association-wide working groups and initiatives to foster collaboration and shared learning. • Partner with other YMCA branches and external organizations to expand program impact. Strategic Planning and Continuous Improvement • Contribute to strategic planning efforts to align branch activities with organizational priorities. • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by evaluating and optimizing programs, services, and operations. Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in community or nonprofit leadership. · Relevant experience in membership sales, customer service, sports, wellness management, facility management and/or or a related field. · Demonstrated success in supervisory roles. · Proven experience with budget and grant management. · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital tools. · Strong leadership background with a track record of effective team management and community engagement. Preferred Qualifications · Experience with Salesforce or similar systems. · Background in facilities and operations management. · Expertise in leading safety initiatives and operations. Work Environment & Physical Demands · This role operates in a dynamic environment that includes both office settings and community program spaces. Work may involve a balance of administrative responsibilities, team collaboration, and on-site program oversight. Flexibility is required to accommodate occasional evenings and weekends based on organizational needs, such as events or community activities. · The role may involve periods of standing, walking, or sitting, and occasional lifting or carrying of materials weighing up to 25 lbs.
