In the role of Senior Financial & Compensation Specialist, you will oversee financial responsibilities related to compensation, expense management, reporting, and sales management. Your main duties will include handling compensation processes, preparing monthly statements, verifying invoices, managing expense reports, and updating accrual information. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating performance and bonus reports, compiling production reports, addressing data discrepancies, and ensuring the accuracy of the database. This position can be based remotely in Ontario for applicants in Canada or in a hybrid setting based out of our office in Boston for applicants in the US. Position Responsibilities: Manage expense activities including accounting, reconciliations, reporting, budgeting, analysis, and customer support; validate invoices and update accrual data. Analyze financial results, identify anomalies, and provide commentary on key focus areas. Administer compensation and sales incentive programs, including modeling scenarios, supporting SIP planning, running monthly queries, and coordinating payment processing. Prepare and distribute monthly compensation statements, resolving issues and ensuring accuracy. Generate and maintain performance and bonus reports, identify reporting needs, and implement data management efficiencies. Ensure data integrity by reviewing, reconciling, and addressing discrepancies across financial systems and interfaces. Contribute to operational improvements, complete industry surveys, share best practices, and manage priorities and projects based on evolving business needs. Required Qualifications: University degree in accounting or finance or equivalent Minimum 3 to 4 years of working experience ideally within the insurance or financial industry Strong written and oral communication skills Meticulous, well-organized, and excellent analytical skills Self-starter and great teammate with a high level of initiative, strong work ethic and the ability to gather, synthesize, organize and report information Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in a fast paced and time-sensitive environment Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications Capable of working independently and autonomously in ambiguous situations. Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrates a working knowledge of accounting rules, regulatory rules and/or business processes as it pertains to the accountant's sphere of responsibility (e.g., a set of regulatory filings or account reconciliations) Demonstrates emerging to solid proficiency in own subject area; still acquiring higher-level knowledge and skills.
