Position Overview Reporting to the President of MAG, the Automation Project Manager is responsible for the end-to-end execution of Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs) and Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) deployments within manufacturing and automotive environments. This role will lead cross-functional teams consisting of internal MAG teams, external vendors and OEM partners to successfully design, deploy, and launch automation solutions inside active production facilities. Key Responsibilities • Own full project lifecycle from concept through commissioning, launch, and closeout • Deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned to customer expectations • Lead cross-functional teams across engineering, operations, and technology • Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, vendors, and internal stakeholders Financial & Administrative • Track project financials including cost, revenue, and invoicing milestones • Coordinate with management for billing, change orders, and financial reporting • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting for customer and MAG leadership visibility Team Leadership & Culture • Lead and develop cross-functional project teams across engineering, operations, and technology • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance • Proactively build team camaraderie and cohesion, especially during high-pressure launch and production support phases • Promote clear communication, mutual respect, and alignment across all team members and stakeholders • Support team members through challenges, ensuring morale remains strong during demanding project phases Project Execution & Planning • Define project scope, milestones, and deliverables with customers and internal teams • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, priorities, and critical path items • Identify risks early and drive mitigation strategies in fast-paced production environments • Establish and manage project budgets, forecasts, and cash flow tracking Technical & Integration Oversight • Ensure alignment between mechanical, electrical, controls, and software systems • Oversee AMR/AGV deployment including: • Fleet management system (FMS) integration • Mapping, routing, and pick/drop flows • Facility and material flow validation • Validate that system designs meet customer standards and safety requirements Customer & Stakeholder Management • Lead regular project review meetings and provide clear status updates • Coordinate closely with plant operations, manufacturing engineering, and IT teams • Ensure strong communication between customer, project team, and leadership • Manage scope changes, RFQs, and customer requests Execution & Launch Support • Oversee installation, commissioning, and production ramp-up • Support troubleshooting and issue resolution during launch phases • Manage punch lists, system validation, and performance acceptance criteria • Ensure smooth project closeout, documentation, and handoff to support teams Qualifications Required Qualifications • At least 2-3 years of experience in automation project management, preferably in: • AMR/AGV or robotics deployments • Automotive manufacturing • Warehouse/distribution automation • Proven experience leading large-scale automation implementations in active production environments • Exemplary documentation, presentation, communication, and organizational skills • Strong understanding of: • Material flow and intralogistics systems • Industrial controls and system integration • Robotics or mobile automation platforms Preferred Qualifications • Experience with AMR/AGV platforms and vendors • Familiarity with Fleet Management Systems and vendors • Experience working with automotive environments • Engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field) • Experience with project scheduling tools (MS Project, or similar) Required Skills • Strong leadership and coordination across cross-functional teams (engineering, operations, vendors, and customers) • Financial literacy with the ability to manage project budgets, forecasts, cash flow, and cost control • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously • Exemplary documentation, presentation, and communication skills across all levels of the organization • Strong attention to detail with disciplined project tracking, reporting, and follow-through • Servant leadership mindset with a hands-on approach to supporting team success and project execution • Ability to build relationships and work effectively with diverse personalities across plant and corporate environments • Strong conflict management and problem-resolution skills, with the ability to drive alignment in high-pressure situations • High level of ownership and accountability.
