Primary duties of a senior warehouse worker combine standard warehouse operations with supervisory and administrative tasks: • Order Processing: Accurately pulling, packing, weighing, labeling, and staging materials and products for shipment or delivery. • Receiving & Stocking: Unloading incoming freight from trucks or containers, verifying the contents against purchase orders or manifests, recording data in the system (WMS or ERP), and placing items in proper storage locations. • Inventory Management: Performing regular cycle counts and physical inventories, identifying and reporting discrepancies or damaged goods, and helping to organize the warehouse layout for optimal space utilization. • Equipment Operation: Operating material handling equipment, such as forklifts, reach trucks, and pallet jacks, in compliance with safety procedures. • Leadership Support: Assisting supervisors with daily operations, providing guidance, mentoring, and training new warehouse associates in procedures and safety protocols. • Documentation & Compliance: Ensuring all paperwork, such as bills of lading and shipping manifests, is accurate and complete. Adhering to all company and OSHA safety standards. • Problem-Solving: Identifying and reporting operational inefficiencies or complex problems to a supervisor and recommending improvements to processes. Required Skills & Qualifications • Experience: Typically requires 2–5+ years of relevant warehouse or distribution experience. • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is generally required. • Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency, experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP software, and familiarity with material handling equipment (often requires forklift certification). • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. • Physical Demands: The role typically requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand/walk for extended periods, bend, twist, and lift up to 65 pounds regularly.
