Magical Creatures Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit farm animal rescue and sanctuary located on Hawaii's Big Island. Completely volunteer-run, our sanctuary was founded in 2018 and is now home to over 90 animals who were saved from slaughter, rescued from neglect, have special needs, or were orphaned or injured in the wild. Job Overview We’re excited to welcome an experienced and passionate Fundraising Manager to join our team and help advance our mission of caring for animals! Reporting to our Executive Director of Administration, you will lead the creation and implementation of strategies to grow support from donors and the community. This is a hands-on, impactful role for someone with strong leadership skills, creative thinking, and a proven track record in nonprofit fundraising and donor relations. Responsibilities: • Develop and implement a strategic advancement plan that aligns with the organization's mission, vision, and long-term goals. Identify key fundraising priorities, target audiences, and performance metrics to measure success. • Lead and oversee all aspects of fundraising and development activities, including major gifts, annual giving, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, planned giving, and special events. Provide strategic direction and guidance to the development team to achieve fundraising goals. • Cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, prospects, and key stakeholders to secure significant philanthropic contributions. Develop personalized cultivation and solicitation strategies tailored to individual donor interests and giving capacity. • Collaborate with the board of directors and board committees to engage board members in fundraising efforts, donor cultivation, and stewardship activities. Provide support and training to board members on fundraising best practices and their roles in advancing philanthropy. • Identify and cultivate strategic partnerships with corporations, businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to expand the organization's donor base, visibility, and impact. Develop mutually beneficial partnerships that advance fundraising goals and organizational objectives. • Develop and manage the fundraising budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources and alignment with fundraising goals and objectives. Monitor expenses, revenue projections, and fundraising ratios to optimize financial performance. • Collaborate with Marketing Manager to drive advertising efforts for fundraising events, donor retention, and other events to elevate the growth of the sanctuary. Efforts will include, but are not limited to, flyers, social media posts, and Mailchimp emails. Qualifications: • Must be 18 years of age or older. • Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Fundraising, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. • 5–7+ years of progressive experience in nonprofit fundraising and development, including leadership responsibilities. • Demonstrated success in major gifts fundraising, donor cultivation, and stewardship. • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and engage staff, volunteers, and donors. • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building meaningful relationships with diverse stakeholders. • Strategic thinker capable of developing and executing innovative fundraising strategies and campaigns. • Experience using donor management software and fundraising analytics tools. • Knowledge of nonprofit fundraising regulations, ethics, and best practices. • Passionate commitment to the organization’s mission, values, and ethical standards. • Volunteer experience with Magical Creatures Sanctuary is a plus! Commitment: We ask our remote volunteers to commit to a minimum of 6 months, contributing 5–15 hours per week. This consistency helps our administrative team operate smoothly while supporting Magical Creatures Sanctuary’s long-term goals of fostering a positive volunteer experience and promoting volunteer retention.
