Description This is a remote position; however, you should expect to travel for team meetings, client meetings or other collaboration needs. Summary The Director of Data & Analytics is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and executing the enterprise data strategy, overseeing data engineering, analytics infrastructure, and governance. This role owns the organization's data architecture, data platforms, and policies, ensuring that data is accurate, secure, accessible, and aligned with business objectives. The Director partners with stakeholders across IT, operations, clinical, finance, and compliance to build a scalable, intelligent, and compliant data ecosystem. While prior PBM experience is not required, the ideal candidate will thrive in a highly regulated, data-intensive healthcare environment. Role and Responsibilities: This role leads the data function end-to-end—from infrastructure to insight—on a day-to-day basis. The Director manages a cross-functional team responsible for building and maintaining databases, data pipelines, reporting platforms, and governance frameworks. They ensure the data estate supports real-time operational needs and long-term strategic goals, including advanced analytics, regulatory reporting, and automation. Own the vision, roadmap, and architecture for enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, data lakes, and operational databases. Lead and manage a team of data engineers, analysts, and governance specialists to deliver scalable data solutions that support analytics, product development, and business operations. Design and implement data integration strategies across internal and external systems (e.g., claims processing, CRM, finance, cloud systems). Develop and enforce data governance policies and frameworks, including data quality management, metadata standards, and access controls. Oversee the creation and maintenance of the enterprise data dictionary and master data management (MDM) initiatives. Collaborate daily with business leaders to define high-impact data use cases, support reporting needs, and prioritize data platform enhancements. Lead enterprise data projects such as data warehouse modernization, cloud migrations, or data lake implementations. Ensure compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations around data privacy and security, including HIPAA and CMS requirements. Foster a culture of data-driven decision-making through enablement of self-service analytics and data literacy across departments. Evaluate and implement modern data tools and technologies, including ETL/ELT platforms, data catalogs, BI tools, and cloud services. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field; Master’s degree preferred. 10+ years of experience in data management, data engineering, analytics, or enterprise data roles. At least 3–5 years in a leadership role overseeing cross-functional data teams, including engineers, analysts, and data governance personnel. Deep expertise in modern data architectures (e.g., data lakehouses (snowflake, azure data factory, azure blob storage, cloud-native warehousing, real-time streaming). Strong knowledge of SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server). Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP), ETL tools (e.g., dbt, Informatica, Fivetran), and BI/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI). Familiarity with data governance frameworks (e.g., DAMA DMBOK), and tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation) is a plus. Exceptional stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to translate between technical and business audiences. Preferences: Experience in PBM, health plans, or healthcare technology environments. Familiarity with HIPAA, CMS, and other healthcare regulatory and reporting requirements. Experience with HL7, FHIR, NCPDP, or other healthcare data standards. Background in supporting analytics for clinical, financial, or operational use cases. Proven ability to scale data functions in fast-growing or M&A-driven organizations. Certifications such as CDMP (Certified Data Management Professional), AWS Certified Data Analytics, or equivalent are a plus. Regularly operates in an office or home office setting which involves utilizing a computer, mouse, keyboard, and occasionally operates other standard office equipment, such as printer, copier, phone. Travel may be required by either car or airplane, or a combination of multiple modes of transportation.
