Overview LMI is seeking a highly skilled Technical Lead with expertise in Microsoft Power Platform and strong project management skills to lead development efforts for a major office at the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). This role combines hands-on technical development with project leadership responsibilities, driving solution design, managing delivery timelines, and guiding a team of developers to ensure mission success. The Technical Lead will serve as both a strategic partner to business stakeholders and a technical leader for the delivery team, ensuring solutions are innovative, scalable, and aligned with customer needs. Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Lead the design, development, and delivery of solutions using the Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI). Project Management: Oversee the development lifecycle, manage timelines, allocate resources, and ensure deliverables meet VA’s mission and business objectives. Project Scheduling & Planning: Create and maintain project schedules and detailed project plans to track progress, dependencies, and milestones. Backlog Management: Manage the product backlog by prioritizing features, enhancements, and bug fixes in alignment with stakeholder needs and program objectives. Partner with business stakeholders to gather requirements, define scope, and translate business needs into technical solutions. Provide solution architecture guidance and ensure scalability, security, and maintainability of applications. Develop and maintain applications, workflows, automations, and dashboards to streamline business processes. Mentor and guide junior developers, conduct code reviews, and enforce best practices. Manage and resolve risks, dependencies, and issues across the project lifecycle. Integrate Power Platform solutions with other Microsoft services and third-party applications. Prepare project documentation, technical guides, and provide training as needed. Stay current on Power Platform updates and emerging technologies to recommend innovative improvements. Qualifications Required: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field. 10+ years of experience in Microsoft technologies, including 3+ years of hands-on Power Platform development (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI). Proven experience leading technical teams or projects, with responsibility for delivery oversight. Proficiency in Power BI and other similar query languages (Power Query, M, DAX, SQL, R). Strong understanding of solution architecture, data integration, connectors, APIs, and security models. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deliver under tight timelines, and balance both technical and business considerations. Experience creating and maintaining project schedules and plans using tools such as Microsoft Project. Demonstrated ability to lead requirements gathering workshops with customers at all levels within an organization. Experience managing and prioritizing a product backlog using tools such as Jira Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and problem-solving skills. Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance. Desired: Previous VA or federal government experience; active or previously held Public Trust clearance. Previous experience interpreting mental health, suicide prevention data, and other electronic health records (EHR) data for clinical decision making and program evaluation. Project management certification or Agile experience (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, CSM, PSM). Demonstrated understanding of Human Capital Design (HCD) and/or User Interface/User Experience (UI/UX) best practices when gathering requirements and developing technical solutions. Microsoft Power Platform certifications. Target salary range: $100,000.00 - 125,000. Final compensation will be determined by a variety of factors including but not limited to your skills, experience, education, and/or certifications.
