Summary: The Program Director, Graduate Health Systems & Education, provides academic and operational leadership for two graduate programs, the MS in Health Informatics (MSHI) and the EdD in Health Professions Education, and stewards shared graduate certificates (e.g., AI &Ethics in Healthcare, Healthcare DataAnalytics, Applied Informatics). The Program Director is accountable for program quality, enrollment and pipeline growth, accreditation readiness, faculty support, student success, and data-informed continuous improvement across a 7-week delivery. The Program Director partners with Academic Affairs, Institutional Effectiveness, Marketing, Admissions, and Student Success to stabilize and grow enrollment, strengthen MSHI and EdD graduate education. Essential Job Functions: • Provide leadership to ensure the effective development, administration, and long-term success of the MS in Health Informatics(MSHI) and the EdD in Health Professions Education, including shared graduate certificates and related academic pathways. • Lead the Vision, strategy, and the day-to-day academic operations for both programs, ensuring alignment with theUniversity'ss mission, the college's strategic plan, and institutional priorities. • Oversee curriculum design, development, implementation, and assessment across assigned programs, including vertically and horizontally aligned coursework and any shared core(e.g., Ethics & AI in Healthcare). • Conduct annual curriculum reviews, maintain program integrity, and ensure adherence to program learning outcomes, accreditation expectations, and evolving industry needs. • Monitor courses to ensure instructional quality, pedagogical best practices, and consistent adherence to course rubrics, student competencies, and academic integrity standards. • Ensure robust instruction across key content areas, including informatics, leadership, applied research, assessment, ethics, HIPAA/privacy, and data governance. • Lead development of innovative, stackable micro-credentials and certificate pathways that align with workforce needs and support MSHI and EdD academic progression. • Maintain compliance with all relevant federal, state, and institutional regulations related to distance education, including FERPA, ADA, State Authorization/NCSARA, and IRB considerations. • Lead ongoing program assessment, annual reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives for both programs. • Maintain programmatic accreditation where applicable; if pursuing CAHIM accreditation for MSHI, serve as the accreditation lead (Selt- Study, Evidence Library, Site Visit Coordination). • Ensure timely submission of required documentation, program changes, student records, experiential learning documentation, and resolution of student or external complaints. • In consultation with the Dean, recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, evaluate, and retain high-quality full-time and adjunct faculty across assigned programs. • Establish and supervise Subject Matter Experts (SME) Leads (e.g., Data Analytics/Interoperability, Doctoral Research/ARP) with clearly defined roles and outcomes. • Create equitable faculty teaching loads in alignment with Faculty Handbook guidelines, and balance graduate instructional needs across 7-week formats. • Cultivate a learning-centered environment supporting scholarship, faculty-student engagement, conflict resolution, and professional development consistent with the institutional mission. • Collaborate with Advising, Student Success, and academic support units to coordinate academic pathways that support retention, persistence, and timely degree completion. • Own the strategy for strengthening the MSHI and EdD pipeline, including aligned outcomes, advising flow, bridge modules, and auto-aticulated credits. • Partner with student support services to implement proactive academic outreach, progression checks, ARP milestones, and interventions for at-risk learners. • Provide data-informed analysis to determine program needs and support continuous improvement in student outcomes. • Assist with recruitment and retention by partnering with Marketing/Admissions to develop differentiated messaging for informatics leadership, AI governance, academic educator pathways, and related program strengths. • Develop employer, clinical, and IT system partnerships for capstones, applied projects, internships, and workforce-prioritized initiatives. • Represent programs at professional societies, conferences, webinars, and the community.industry events(e.g., HIMSS, AMIA, AUPHA, AERA/IME). • Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes related to program growth, enrollment forecasting, instructional needs, and resource allocation. • Manage program budgets, including adjunct allocations and instructional design costs, software/licenses, and accreditation-related expenditures; ensure spending aligns with enrollment and ROI expectations. • Ensure catalog accuracy, policy adherence, time communication of program updates, and collaboration with institutional partners on operational improvements. • Support exploration, development, and proposal of new certificates, concentrations, or degree initiatives consistent with institutional growth priorities. • Teach up to 12 credit hours annually as assigned (course release time contingent on administrative duties such as accreditation preparation, etc.) • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean. Required Qualifications: • Doctorate in Health Informatics/Information Science, Public Health, Health Administration, Education (EdD/PhD), or closely related field. • 3-5+ years of progressive higher-education leadership (program director/assistant dean or Equivalent) with online/accelerated terms experience. • Evidence of curriculum leadership and measurable program improvement(assessment, accreditation, or major redesign). • demonstrated expertise in at least one of: Health informatics/Analytics, Digital Health/Interoperability, Medical/Health Professions Education, or Leadership in Higher Ed. • Strong record of faculty supervision, instructional quality assurance, and student success initiatives. • Excellent data-informed decision-making, budgeting, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: • Consistently utilize effective interpersonal and communication skills. • Ability to maintain mental concentration for extended periods of time. • Ability to perform multiple duties in addition to department responsibilities with frequent interruptions and time pressures. • Possess the ability to tolerate and implement changes. • Ability to perform and function in a manner consistent with mentoring faculty and students. Preferred Qualifications: • Prior leadership in an accredited informatics or HIM program (e.g., CAHIM experience), or equivalent outcomes-based accreditation (e.g., ACEN, CEHP, CAEP, HLC roles). • Experience building Micro-credentials/stackable certificates and aligning them to degree pathways. • Industry experience with HIT standards(FHIR/HL7), EHR implementations, data governance/cybersecurity, or AI governance. • Doctoral research supervision(proposal to defense/ARP) and faculty development in Research Methods. • Established professional network(HIMSS, AMIA, AUPHA, AERA/IMERA) and a history of conference presentations. Physical Demands: • The nature of the work requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. • Requires the ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile, and prepare work documents, and set up and maintain work files. • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.
