Public Relations Ottawa, ON 18282BR About the role Lockheed Martin Canada is looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for politics who appreciates a dynamic environment and is willing to learn. This is an exciting time to join Lockheed Martin because Canada is entering a period of significant defence investments with critical political considerations. As a Government Relations Analyst you will play an important supporting role on our Canadian corporate team by delivering informed government relations, political and policy analysis to support the Government Relations function. In this role, you will contribute to the design and implementation of government relations strategies to shape public policy and political topics in the Government of Canada. You will be connecting internally across Lockheed Martin business areas and externally with various organizations in the defence sector. You will deliver work product and advice to inform business decisions through a government relations lens. This is an excellent opportunity for an early career professional with experience in politics, government relations, consulting or public policy in the defence sector to grow their experience. Reporting directly to Head of Government Relations for Lockheed Martin Canada and working from our downtown, Ottawa, office you may be responsible for: • Government Relations Analysis: • Public Policy and Political Analysis – Support producing background papers, briefings, and visualisations that capture how Canadian policy and political considerations affect the business, including on topics related to Canada’s defence and security, economic policy and foreign policy • Strategic Opportunity Analysis – Continuously scan for political and public policy considerations in the defence sector to flag emerging threats, trends, and opportunities, then under the direction, translate these insights into strategic work products to enable internal communication • Stakeholder mapping and Engagement plans– Support the developing and building, monitoring and updating customer stakeholder maps and analyzing decision making processes in the Government of Canada to advise on key engagements • Engagement Coordination - Support Head of Government Relations in coordinating engagements with government stakeholders as requested to include organizing briefings, visits, and advocacy initiatives with supporting actions including developing agendas, briefing coordinators, and delivering impact analyses • Legislative Activities - Support Head of Government Relations by monitoring the legislative pipeline including Parliamentary Committee appearances and recommending advice to leadership on opportunities or implications from the legislative agenda • Associations and Think Tank Engagement - Support government relations campaigns by engaging with industry associations, think-tanks and partners to shape advocacy • Executive and Stakeholder Communication • Assist the Head of Government Relations in preparing, reviewing, and delivering high‑quality briefing and executive‑level materials, including preparation materials ahead of senior government engagements, (executive presentations, leadership meetings, etc.) with data analysis, visualizations, and actionable insights • Project Management and Workflow Support • As directed, contribute to building strategic planning documents for government relations actions including workflow charts, and dashboards to help define scope, milestones and issue‑resolution mechanisms to keep projects on track • Ad‑hoc Analysis and Issue Resolution • As and when directed by the Head of Government Relations, conduct focused, on‑call analyses to investigate operational challenges and implement approved enhancements • Collaboration and Confidentiality • At all times maintain strict information‑security protocols while working cross‑functionally to achieve team and corporate goals What you bring to the role • Bachelor’s Degree in appropriate field of study and at least three years of relevant experience in government or private sector organization with a government relations or political management focus. • Experience must demonstrate an ability to: • exercise sound judgment, prioritize tasks, and seek guidance when needed while working independently • navigate ambiguity with resourcefulness and a detail‑oriented, analytical, and inquisitive approach • collaborate effectively, securing stakeholder support for project implementation • plan and organize efficiently, managing multiple tasks and meeting tight deadlines • adapt quickly to new environments and changing priorities while sustaining high performance. • work autonomously yet harmonize with teams to achieve shared objectives • Demonstrate effectiveness across diverse work environments (in office, on site, virtual), with flexible availability Additional skills desired for the role • Prior experience in government relations consulting, policy development or political management • Proficiency in research and analysis • An understanding and appreciation for defence and aerospace customers and their missions • Master’s Degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, Business Administration, International Relations or similar discipline is considered an asset • Knowledge and interest in Canadian politics and engagement in Canadian politics is an asset • Experience demonstrating an ability to: • influence strategic planning and drive change in a structured, hierarchical yet evolving organization. • craft executive‑level presentations from complex information—storyboarding, writing, and designing impactful decks • maintain exceptional written communication skills for reports, briefs, and formal correspondence. • demonstrate strong time management and meticulous organizational habits. • Experience with supporting senior executives What we offer you We walk our talk when it comes to work/life balance!
