Full Description

The Knowledge Management Research Attorney is responsible for effectively performing multi-jurisdictional legal research and analyzing issues on a variety of labor and employment topics. Jurisdictional coverage includes federal law and all 50 states plus the District of Columbia, as well as local jurisdictions that regulate labor and employment. Research to be performed using the firm’s various legal research tools including Lexis, West, BNA and state and federal government websites. This is a remote position located in Kansas City, MO. Responsibilities • Responsible for preparing concise, objective summaries of complex legal issues related to employment and labor laws, within strict deadlines, in a tone accessible to a range of audiences including attorneys and HR personnel. • Responsible for editing own written work product and other materials upon request to ensure clarity, accuracy (in spelling, punctuation and grammar), consistency in style/format, and compliance with the Firm’s style, grammar and formatting guidelines. • Responsible for conducting legal citation verification and fact verification of non-legal information referenced in own written material and other materials upon request, including legal citations, dates, statistics, spelling of names, places, organizations, verification of agency address and contact phone numbers. Comply with firm and ethical rules on the use of AI tools. • Responsible for working on projects with general direction and minimal guidance in a deadline-intensive environment. • Responsible for prioritizing and coordinating multiple legal research projects to meet strict deadlines. Qualifications • Knowledge of the U.S. legal system and legislative and regulatory processes required with knowledge and experience with employment and labor law. • Experience with content management systems, blogs and on-line communities a plus. Familiarity with basic HTML and WYSIWYG editors a plus. • Excellent vocabulary, spelling, grammar and proofreading skills. • Excellent oral and written communication skills; interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate and to provide information in a professional manner. • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. Education & Certifications Required: Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school. Must be admitted to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. Experience Required Minimum of 2-5 years’ experience in the labor and employment field as a research or staff attorney or in a law firm strongly preferred.
