Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) Position Summary Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), the Certified Nurse Aide provides basic patient care activities in accordance with established standards of practice. This role supports patient safety, comfort, and daily care needs across a variety of patient populations. Reports to the Department Director or Manager. Essential Functions Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, and ambulation Measure and record vital signs and report abnormal findings to nursing staff Support patient mobility, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics and safety techniques Observe and report changes in patients’ physical, mental, or emotional condition Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment Follow infection control, safety, and confidentiality guidelines at all times Provide compassionate, respectful care to patients and families Patient Populations Served Neonate, Infant, Early Childhood, Late Childhood, Adolescent, Young Adult, Middle Adult, and Older Adult Protected Health Information Accessed Demographic, clinical, insurance, financial, and complete medical records Exposure This position involves occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens Physical Requirements Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, and moving patients Repetitive hand and arm movements Regular exposure to biological and chemical hazards, including blood and bodily fluids, hazardous medications, and latex Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Ability to follow clinical instructions and safety protocols Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment Demonstrated compassion, professionalism, and attention to detail Qualifications Education: High school diploma preferred Licensure/Certifications: Certified Nursing Assistant in the state of practice (required) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required) Handle With Care certification (preferred) Equal Employment Opportunity Statement Southern Tennessee Regional Health System is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
