Our European banking client is looking for a recent graduate to join our 18-month Graduate Program in Trade Finance Operations. This program is designed to provide hands-on experience, structured training, and mentorship to help launch a successful career in international trade finance and banking operations. As a Trade Finance Operations Graduate Trainee, you will work closely with experienced teams to support the end-to-end processing of trade finance transactions, including letters of credit, guarantees, and collections. You will play a key role in ensuring operational accuracy, regulatory compliance, and timely execution of transactions that support the bank’s corporate clients engaged in global trade. The program offers the opportunity to collaborate with different departments, including Compliance, Client Services, and Relationship Management, while gaining exposure to international banking practices and regulatory frameworks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Assist in the end-to-end processing of trade finance instruments such as Letters of Credit (LCs), Standby LCs, Bank Guarantees, and Documentary Collections. • Support the verification and documentation of trade transactions in accordance with internal procedures and international rules (e.g., UCP600, ISP98, URDG). • Work with relationship managers and corporate clients to ensure timely receipt of necessary documents and resolve operational queries. • Monitor transaction workflows and ensure accurate input into trade finance systems and databases. • Liaise with internal departments (e.g., Compliance, Legal, Risk) to ensure adherence to AML, Sanctions, and other regulatory requirements. • Support the reconciliation and reporting of trade finance transactions, including preparation of management reports and internal audit materials. • Contribute to continuous process improvement efforts, including automation and efficiency initiatives. • Assist in special projects and cross-functional initiatives as needed throughout the program. • Develop a solid understanding of the bank’s trade finance products, services, and operational frameworks. Experience / Qualifications / Education: • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Finance, International Trade, Economics, or a related field. Exposure to trade finance during studies or through internships is a plus. • Interest in global trade, banking operations, and international business practices. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Effective communication skills and a collaborative mindset. • Eagerness to learn and develop professionally in a dynamic, international banking environment.
