Construct, install, and repair cabinetry, read plans, and operate woodworking machinery independently.
At least 5 years of related experience, ability to read drawings, operate woodworking tools safely, and a valid driver's license.
SUMMARY We are looking for a candidate that is invested in the advancement of our company and is interested in working as a team. We are a boutique family owned and operated cabinet shop with high volume output. We work with the high end showrooms in the Bay Area and need an individual to keep up with our demand. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Skilled in the construction, installation, refinishing, and repairs of all types of cabinetry. Capable of working 100% independently. Able to read and study plans and drawings. Available to work overtime and weekends if necessary. Have a valid Drivers License and available to drive their personal vehicle or a vehicle supplied by the company as needed. Capable and knowledgeable on the safe operation and maintenance of woodworking machines including table saws, planers, joiners, wood lathes, drill presses, and other machines and tools used to cut, shape, and assemble parts from stock. Ability to drive a forklift is not required but preferred. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 5 years of related experience including as a journeyman cabinet maker or any equivalent combination of training and experience. Excellent communication skills. Capability of speaking, reading, and writing in English is highly preferred. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools, and practices of the cabinet making trade. Thorough knowledge of the occupational hazards and safety precautions of the construction trades. Ability to interpret and work from penciled sketches, drawings, plans, and blue prints. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and other university personnel, including conflict resolution. Ability to communicate and coordinate with superiors, subordinates, vendors and university personnel. Skill in the use and care of standard tools and equipment of the carpentry, cabinet making, and woodworking trades.
