Job Summary We are looking to employ an experienced Business Development Director (BDD) to manage our business development team and ensure that inside sales operations run smoothly. The terms "business development" and "inside sales" will be used interchangeably throughout this document. The BDD's responsibilities include providing ongoing professional development opportunities for the inside sales staff, motivating the business development team to achieve appropriate activity and sales targets, and, in partnership with sales operations, developing an effective step-by-step process of nurturing leads and generating qualified lead as well as opportunities for the sales team. To be successful as BDD, you should have strong leadership skills and ensure that business development representatives (BDRs) comply with company policies. Ultimately, an exceptional BDD should be able to communicate effectively with the team, peers and customers as well as demonstrate excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Essential Job Functions • Recruiting, training, and supervising members of the business development team. • Educating the team on effectively answering common customer questions and objections. • Collaborating with the marketing and sales to ensure that the BDRs receive and follow up with quality leads. • Maintaining an accurate record of all leads and actual sales. • Regularly evaluating the performance of the BDRs. • Recommending and implementing improvements to current sales practices and procedures as needed. Specific Skills/ Attributes • Excellent leadership skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Sound organizational skills. • Effective communication skills. • Exceptional customer service skills. Qualifications • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.. • Accredited inside sales manager (AISM) and certified inside sales professional (CISP) accreditations are advantageous. • Proven experience working as an Inside Sales or Business Development team lead, ideally with great than 3 year's experience. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software. • Experience preferred with leveraging sales enablement platforms to support prospecting efforts, managing collateral, and tracking key performance indicators.
