The Leidos Chief Data & Analytics Office (CDAO) is a new, high-growth organization at the center of the company's technology strategy. Our Operational AI (Ops.AI) division is seeking a motivated and talented Senior Data Scientist to play a key role in delivering high-impact data science solutions. This position is essential for translating complex business challenges into data-driven insights that improve mission-critical outcomes for our clients. As a Senior Data Scientist, you will work with a team of experts to develop and deploy advanced analytical models and AI solutions. You will be a key contributor, collaborating closely with domain experts and stakeholders to ensure our projects are technically sound, strategically aligned, and deliver measurable value. Primary Responsibilities Model Development: Lead the development of predictive models and data-driven insights for a variety of mission-critical applications. Problem Solving: Collaborate with domain experts to understand complex operational challenges and apply advanced data science and machine learning techniques to solve them. Data Integrity: Ensure the quality, integrity, and ethical use of data in all AI and analytics projects, adhering to trusted and responsible AI principles. Insight Communication: Communicate complex analytical findings, outcomes, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to drive decision-making. Innovation: Stay current with industry trends and advancements in data science and machine learning, and advocate for their integration into our solutions. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline with 8+ years of professional experience as a data scientist, OR a Master’s degree with 6+ years of professional experience. Strong proficiency in a programming language such as Python or R and deep experience with common data science libraries (e.g., pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch). Solid foundation in statistics, AI & ML, and experimental design. This position offers flexibility for remote or hybrid work arrangements. Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. Preferred Qualifications Experience in the defense, intelligence, or federal civilian sectors. Demonstrated ability to work with large or unstructured datasets (e.g., text, imagery). Familiarity with cloud-based data science and machine learning platforms (e.g., AWS SageMaker, Azure ML). Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. Knowledge of Generative AI technologies and their applications, including Large Language Models (LLMs).
