Build and nurture reader communities, lead street team activation, support publicity and launch activities, and manage digital presence for the author.
Self-motivated, remote-capable individual with social media fluency and experience in grassroots or fandom-driven marketing.
About the Role We’re seeking a creative, self-motivated professional to help bring Asteria—an epic fantasy novel filled with dragons, mystery, and ancient secrets—into the world with impact. This is a hands-on role focused on building authentic connections, sparking visibility, and rallying excitement through community engagement, online presence, and street team leadership. What You’ll Do • Community Engagement: Build and nurture connections with readers, fans, and online communities. Create interactions that feel genuine, not transactional. Mostly written content. Could include some graphics created via Canva or a similar application. • Street Team Activation: Recruit, inspire, and coordinate the Asteria Street Team—mobilizing grassroots enthusiasm both online and offline. • Publicity & Launch Support: Collaborate directly with the author on creative campaigns, launch activities, and engagement strategies that generate buzz. • Digital Presence: Drive the author’s social media and online presence, ensuring consistent, engaging, and human-centered content. • Creative Campaigns: Ideate and execute grassroots marketing efforts that stand out in the crowded book space. What We’re Looking For • Self-starter: Thrives in a remote environment, capable of working independently and taking initiative without heavy oversight. • Collaborator: Comfortable partnering closely with the author while owning day-to-day execution. • Skilled at community-building, with the ability to make people feel valued and included. • Social media fluency (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Threads, Discord, etc.) with a strong sense of what drives engagement. • Experience with grassroots, fandom-driven, or creative marketing (publishing, indie music, gaming, etc. all count!). • Adaptable, creative, and enthusiastic about experimenting with new ideas. • Passion for fantasy books and fandom culture (bonus if you geek out over dragons, ancient runes, or mysterious worlds). Why Join Us? This isn’t a typical marketing role—it’s an opportunity to help launch a world. You’ll have creative freedom, direct collaboration with the author, and the chance to shape a growing fan community from the very beginning. Details • Flexible, remote position (4-6 hours/week for approximately 3 months). • Contract role, with potential to expand. • Compensation commensurate with experience, anticipated to be $20-25/hour. Who We Are Out in Left Field, we believe stories have the power to shape culture, challenge assumptions, and open hearts. We publish literature that matters—works that engage with social commentary and tackle the pressing questions of our time, without sacrificing decency or dehumanizing any perspective. We're committed to diversity and inclusivity. The richness of literature lies in its multiplicity. We seek out works that are socially conscious and imaginative, reflecting the complexity of being human while sparking dialogue, empathy, and change. We hold that literature--and our online presence--should provoke without belittling, challenge without excluding, and illuminate without demeaning. Every story we bring into the world carries a responsibility—to entertain, to inspire, and to deepen the collective conversation about what it means to be human. In short: we stand for literature that is bold, inclusive, and humane—because words matter, and the world needs better ones. ✨ Ready to help unleash Asteria into the world? Apply with a brief note on why this excites you and any relevant experience in community engagement or grassroots campaigns.
