The Workforce Development Program Director is a strategic leadership role responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive workforce development and talent acquisition programs with a focus on building a robust pipeline of healthcare professionals, particularly nurses and other critical clinical roles. This position requires a "road warrior" mentality, involving extensive travel (up to 50-75% of the time) to cultivate and maintain partnerships with educational institutions, professional organizations, and community stakeholders across regional and national levels. The Program Director will position SJRMC as a premier employer of choice in the healthcare industry by developing innovative recruitment strategies, fostering strategic alliances, and aligning talent pipelines with organizational goals and regional economic trends. This role collaborates closely with senior leadership, including the Director of Talent Acquisition, to integrate workforce planning with SJRMC’s broader strategic objectives. Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (extensive relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree). Ten (10) to twelve (12) years of progressive experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, or human resources, with at least five (5) years in a leadership role, preferably in healthcare. Proven expertise in developing and executing strategic workforce planning initiatives, including talent pipeline development and succession planning. Demonstrated success in building and maintaining strategic partnerships with educational institutions, professional organizations, and community stakeholders. Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with diverse stakeholders at all levels. Strong analytical skills with experience using data-driven metrics to assess program effectiveness and inform strategic decisions. Comprehensive understanding of the healthcare industry, including current trends, workforce challenges, and regulatory requirements. Willingness and ability to travel extensively (50-75% of the time) to attend recruitment events, career fairs, and partnership meetings regionally and nationally. Passion for advancing SJRMC’s employer brand and fostering a culture of diversity, equity, and inclusion in talent acquisition Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration. Twelve (12) to fifteen (15) years of experience in talent acquisition, workforce planning, or human resources, with a strong focus on healthcare. Certification in Human Resources (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) or workforce planning (e.g., Workforce Planning Certification). Experience leveraging advanced workforce analytics tools and methodologies to forecast talent needs and optimize recruitment strategies. Proven track record of leading large-scale internship or apprenticeship programs in healthcare settings. Established relationships with key stakeholders in the Four Corners region, including educational institutions (e.g., San Juan College, Pueblo Community College, Ft. Lewis) and economic development organizations. Duties and Responsibilities: Develop and lead a comprehensive workforce development and planning strategies to ensure a growing and sustainable pipeline of healthcare professionals, with a focus on critical roles such as nursing, therapists, imaging professionals, etc. Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with local primary schools and regional colleges, universities, professional organizations, and community stakeholders to enhance SJRMC’s talent acquisition efforts. Oversee the design and execution of outreach programs, including career fairs, workshops, and presentations at educational institutions and industry conferences. Lead the development and management of internship, residency, and apprenticeship programs to attract and cultivate early-career healthcare talent. Collaborate with the marketing department to create compelling, data-driven content for SJRMC’s careers website and social media platforms to strengthen the employer brand. Utilize advanced analytics to track program performance, forecast workforce needs, and identify opportunities for process improvement. Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., HR, Nursing, Nursing Education) to align workforce planning initiatives with organizational priorities and clinical needs. Engage with external stakeholders, including economic development professionals, Chambers of Commerce, and regional educational institutions, to align talent strategies with community and economic growth. Stay informed on industry trends, labor market dynamics, and best practices in workforce planning and talent acquisition. Provide leadership and mentorship to the Talent Acquisition team, fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. Represent SJRMC at regional and national healthcare and workforce development conferences to enhance visibility and attract top talent. Moderate physical exertion may be required during travel and event setup. Office-based work involves prolonged periods of sitting and computer use, which may result in repetitive strain on the neck and back. Demands continual mental concentration, strategic thinking, and attention to detail.
