Role Summary: This is a top-tier opportunity for a seasoned BECx professional (Engineer or Architect) who is ready to lead Building Enclosure Commissioning efforts across multiple large-scale projects, while also coordinating with MEP and other commissioning activities. The ideal candidate will be a confident doer, a strategic thinker, and a trusted collaborator capable of managing stakeholders, driving quality, and building internal capacity. This role will require technical depth, a strong field presence, and the ability to manage projects and people concurrently. Core Responsibilities: • Lead and execute BECx efforts per ASTM E2813, ASHRAE Guideline 0, and NIBS Guideline 3. • Oversee BECx activities from pre-design through occupancy, including: o Manage the entire Building Enclosure Commissioning process, assuring all contract deliverables are met with awesome Client Service. o Design phase reviews (schematic, development, construction) and RFI reviews o Submittal Reviews o Specification and protocol development o Develop the Functional Testing Matrix and incorporate Testing requirements within the Specifications. o On Site QA Observations o Coordinate 3rd Party Field Testing o Observe 3rd party Field testing and verification o Final report o Utilize web base Cx Software platforms, Cx Alloy, Facility Grid, BluRythm, etc. • Maintain good client relationships, including interfacing with building owners, contractors, design teams, and trade partners. • Identify non-conformances, propose solutions, and drive issue resolution. • Prepare commissioning plans, Site Observation Reports, and final project documentation packages. • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, mentorship, and training. • Represent LCCx as a trusted leader in the BECx space—internally and externally. Cross-disciplinary Commissioning Support (optional based on candidate experience): • Plan, coordinate, and execute functional performance testing for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and control systems. • Assist with building analytics, energy conservation measures (ECMs), and post-occupancy measurement and verification (M&V) when needed. Ideal Candidate Profile: • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or Building Science (Master’s a plus). • 7+ years of experience in BECx a with a strong emphasis on envelope systems. • Proven ability to lead BECx efforts across complex institutional or commercial projects. • Strong project management skills include: o Scheduling and time management o Managing multiple contracts o Coordinate manpower requirements • Support post-occupancy services such as: o Seasonal testing and 10-month warranty walkthroughs o Development of Current Facilities Requirements (CFR) Plan o On-going BECx Plan and O&M Maintenance Plan o Facility Condition Assessments (FCA) • Familiarity with LEED rating system and other relevant commissioning standards (AEGB, ASTM, ASHRAE, NIBS). • Understanding of commissioning tools and platforms • Willingness to travel regionally (primarily within Texas) up to 25–40% based on project needs. Preferred: o Professional licensure or credentials such as: BECxP, CxA+BE, CxA by ACG or CCP by BCA LEED AP, PE, EIT, or Commissioning Technician certification ABAA, IIBEC, or ASTM-based BECx training IIBEC Certifications: CBECxP, RRC, RRO, REWC, etc. Previous experience leading large-scale institutional or commercial commissioning projects.
