Primary purpose The Business Development Manager (BDM) for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) identifies, develops, and captures new business opportunities within the VA health ecosystem. This position leads strategic growth initiatives aligned with Lantana's mission to advance health-data interoperability, quality improvement, and adoption of clinical standards. The BDM cultivates trusted relationships with VA stakeholders, teaming partners, and internal technical and delivery leaders to position Lantana for sustainable growth. This role measures success by the ability to translate insight into actionable strategies that result in measurable revenue growth and long-term customer relationships. A successful candidate will do the following: • Drive Lantana's business growth within the VA • Lead the full business-development lifecycle from market research and opportunity qualification to capture and proposal support • Combine market intelligence, capture strategy and management, and execution of business development to expand Lantana's footprint across VA programs, with emphasis on Health IT modernization, data analytics, interoperability, and quality-measurement initiatives • Engage with VA stakeholders to understand mission needs, identify how they align with Lantana's expertise in Health IT and data standards, and develop tailored solutions that advance veterans' health outcomes • Manage and expand a qualified pipeline of opportunities • Build and maintain strategic teaming partnerships • Collaborate closely with technical leads and company leadership to grow Lantana's position as a trusted partner to the VA Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Business, Health Informatics, Public Health, or related field • Over seven (7) years of progressive experience in business development, capture, or program management within the federal health market, specifically supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs or similar agencies (such as NIH, CMS, CDC, DHA) • Demonstrated success at leading opportunity identification, pipeline management, and capture activities for federal contracts valued at over $5M and winning these contracts • Working knowledge of federal acquisition processes (FAR/DFARS), procurement vehicles, and small-business teaming strategies • Strong understanding of VA priorities, including electronic health-record modernization (EHRM), data interoperability, clinical quality improvement, and veteran-centric health initiatives • Excellent communication, capture-management, proposal-writing, and stakeholder-engagement skills • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with technical, delivery, and executive leadership teams • Proven ability to operate as a self-starter, demonstrating initiative and ownership in identifying, pursuing, and securing new business opportunities with minimal supervision Preferred qualifications: • Master's degree in Business, Public Health, or related field • Preexisting, established relationships with VA program offices, contracting officers, or prime contractors in the VA ecosystem • Experience working with or for small-business federal contractors in the Health IT or public-health informatics domains • Proven ability to lead capture and proposal efforts under GWACs, IDIQs, and BPAs (such as T4NG, IHT 2.0, SEWP, CIO-SP4, GSA MAS) • Familiarity with Lantana's core capabilities in health-data standards (FHIR, CDA, CQL) and quality reporting • Experience with CRM tools (such as GovWin, Unanet, Salesforce) and federal-market intelligence systems Additional information: • We are a remote organization, but we prioritize in-person collaboration during key events such as our annual company meeting. • We are an equal-opportunity employer.
