Full Description

Position: Art Teacher Pay Rate: At the appropriate step on the Teachers' Salary Schedule Minimum Qualifications: • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate, required • Endorsed to teach Art (LX, LQ, LZ) • Elementary endorsement preferred • Demonstrated knowledge of, and excellence in, teaching the various art strands including art fundamentals, drawing, painting, printing, jewelry making, ceramics and design to beginning, intermediate and advanced students (candidate should be prepared to present a portfolio of their work) • Experience in digital photography and using photo editing technology, prefered • Demonstrated ability to organize and showcase student-prepared projects at local and/or state level shows • Strong commitment to educating students • Ability to create lesson plans and implement instructional strategies to address the needs of students in various classroom settings • Ability to be flexible and adapt to schedule changes • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with staff and students • Ability to withstand the strain of teaching • Must demonstrate reliability and punctuality, with a strong record of consistent attendance.
