Full Description

SUMMARY The Executive Assistant for the Land Preservation department is responsible for assisting with the completion of real estate transactions. Updates internal District real estate records and submits documentation to Lake County for tax exempt status. Conducts research on real estate issues that may include a variety of factors related to physical and legal status of a property. Assists with the implementation of land transactions including working with realtors, sellers, attorneys and other District staff. Coordinates requests for appraisals, title commitments, surveys, and environmental studies, and requests real estate contracts from District counsel. This position also coordinates monthly Planning Committee meetings, working in conjunction with the Executive Director, Director of Land Preservation, and Manager of Board Operations, which involves assembling agendas; drafting recommendations, resolutions, ordinances and policy direction; communicating with other departments, and attending the meetings. Performs lifting tasks up to 25 pounds. Drives a motorized vehicle to travel to different locations. Performs tasks that will require walking, bending, stooping, standing, kneeling, climbing, reaching, and sitting. EXPERIENCE Associate’s Degree in business, finance, real estate, management, or related field. Two years’ experience in administrative services or office management. Working knowledge of real estate and its terminology and an understanding of the local governmental structure in Lake County including the municipal and county levels of government and the relationship between various governmental entities. Knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and OnBase document management software. Working knowledge of state and local laws governing administrative processes within municipal government, including document retention policies. Must possess valid driver’s license. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS Anticipated Hiring Rate Range: $27.55 – $31.00 The Lake County Forest Preserves offers an excellent work environment as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and life insurance, IMRF pension plan, and paid vacation, personal and sick leave.
