RETAIL SALES ASSOCIATE at La Terre Full Time | Onsite, In Person | Weekend Availability required 40 hours/week (up to 50 hours on key holiday weeks) • * Potential to quickly grow into the Assistant Shop Manager position with compensation increase** ABOUT LA TERRE La Terre is a thoughtfully curated flower shop and boutique known for its exquisite flower arrangements, fine goods, and warm, personalized service. Located in the heart of Foxtown, our shop is a destination that invites customers to experience joy through seasonal flowers, tabletop treasures, and hand-selected gifts. Originally founded in 2019, La Terre continues to grow under the leadership of Sally Vander Wyst, a seasoned floral designer and founder of Milwaukee Flower Co. ABOUT THE ROLE We’re looking for a Retail Sales Associate to support the daily flow of La Terre and help keep the front of house running smoothly. This is a key support role focused on assisting with retail operations, customer service, and order fulfillment. You’ll take the lead on closing procedures and help ensure the shop stays organized, welcoming, and aligned with La Terre’s high standards. You’ll work closely with the Shop Manager and the rest of the team to support whatever the day brings, whether that’s helping a customer find the perfect gift, preparing flower orders for delivery, or making sure inventory is stocked and accurate. This role is a great fit for someone who loves thoughtful service, has a strong sense of what needs to be done, and finds joy in the behind-the-scenes details that make a shop feel effortless. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Closing Procedures & Front of House Flow • Lead opening and/or closing procedures and ensure the shop is clean and prepared • Maintain cleanliness of the store throughout the day • Assist in keeping the front of house running smoothly during busy periods • Maintain a welcoming and well-organized space, aligned with La Terre’s visual and service standards • Monitor daily task lists and assist in keeping the team on track Customer Experience & Sales Support • Offer warm, attentive service and help guide customers through their purchases • Support team sales goals by staying aware throughout the day, being knowledgeable about products on the floor, and genuinely caring about customers who walk through the door • Build relationships with regulars and maintain a customer-focused atmosphere • Answer phones, process orders, and support online order flow to ensure designers are set up for success Order Fulfillment & Shop Operations • Help prepare flower orders for delivery and pickup, coordinating with the design team • Accurately label and prepare deliveries using Zippy • Assist with receiving, unpacking, and merchandising new products • Update inventory in Shopify and ensure stock levels are current • Float to help with production tasks (ie washing buckets & vases, sweeping, removing trash/recycling, and compost) Team Support & Backup Leadership • Act as a steady support to the Shop Manager, helping with whatever needs attention day to day • Act as point of contact when the Shop Manager is offsite • Support training and onboarding for new retail staff • Model shop standards and help reinforce systems, routines, and expectations • Communicate regularly with the Shop Manager about what’s happening on the floor QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE • High School Graduate & (at a minimum) some college or training program • 1-2 years of retail and/or hospitality experience preferred • Familiar with (or quick to learn) online platforms. Currently using: Shopify, Zippy, Homebase, and Google Suite • Ability to comfortably lift 30 lbs La Terre is an equal opportunity employer.
