The Service Assistant plays a vital role in ensuring an exceptional guest experience by maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the restaurant. This role supports both the dining room and back-of-house operations, helping to create a welcoming, safe, and enjoyable environment for all guests. Why You'll Love Working at La Madeleine: • Earn Extra- Average $3.00/hr in tips through our cafe tip pool. • Flexible scheduling (AM/PM-FT/PT) and NO LATE NIGHTS- We close at 9pm • Comprehensive Benefits -Health, dental, and vision insurance options (Full-Time) • Employee discounts on food & catering • Growth opportunities within the company • Supportive team environment where your voice matters What You'll Do: • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in all guest areas, including dining rooms, coffee stations, restrooms, dumpster areas, parking lots, and the dish room. • Pre-bus tables, reset, and ensure floors are clean and hazard-free at all times. • Communicate any potential issues or safety hazards to management promptly. • Stock and sanitize silverware, napkins, trays, and other service items. • Assist Food Runners as needed with delivering food to guests. • Prepare and restock fresh coffee, bread trays, butter, and jam in a timely manner. • Ensure restrooms are clean, sanitized, and fully stocked according to company standards. • Keep the dish room clean, organized, and stocked with plateware, flatware, and glassware for service. • Maintain cleanliness of exterior areas including dumpster zones and parking lots. • Empty trash bins throughout the restaurant and ensure proper disposal. • Perform assigned daily and weekly cleaning tasks. • Assist fellow team members with cleaning and restocking duties as needed. • Support storage and walk-in organization, including putting away product orders. • Safely operate equipment such as bread slicers, dishwashing machines, and coffee/tea brewers. • Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor. Physical Requirements • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the shift. • Frequent bending, stooping, and lifting of up to 30 lbs. multiple times per shift. • Ability to recognize and respond to hazards such as broken glass, hot surfaces, and slippery floors. • Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to hear and respond in a loud environment. Qualifications • High school diploma or GED required. • Food handler's card/license preferred. • Passion for guest service and teamwork in a restaurant environment. • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. • Ability to multitask and thrive under pressure. • Flexibility to work long hours, weekends, and holidays as business requires. This position operates in a restaurant environment. La Madeleine staff are frequently exposed to hot equipment, cleaning chemicals, and moderate noise levels. The role requires regular standing, bending, lifting, and reaching.
