Research Director, Discovery & Innovation My biotech client seeks a Research Director, Discovery & Innovation to lead multidisciplinary teams developing next-generation technologies across protein engineering, nucleic acid chemistry, and enzyme systems. Responsibilities: • Lead and mentor research teams in biochemistry, molecular biology, and protein design • Drive innovation from early discovery through proof-of-concept • Strengthen IP position through patent strategy and invention review • Build strategic vision connecting technology platforms • Represent research programs at scientific conferences and to stakeholders Qualifications: • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Protein Engineering, or related field • 10-15+ years progressive research experience with demonstrated leadership across multiple technology platforms • Management experience building and directing research teams • Track record delivering novel scientific approaches or breakthrough technologies • Deep expertise in protein engineering, enzyme systems, nucleic acid chemistry, or biochemistry with ability to lead across disciplines • Strong publication record or patent portfolio demonstrating original contributions • Proven ability to foster curiosity-driven research culture focused on meaningful innovation • Effective mentor across different disciplines and expertise levels • Strategic thinker who identifies synergies between scientific areas
