Full Description

KMM Telecommunications is looking for a motivated and skilled Safety Manager to join our Team of Telecommunications Professionals. The Safety & Training Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing KMM’s national safety and training programs across telecommunications, tower construction, and EF\&I operations. This role ensures the safety of employees, subcontractors, and the public while maintaining compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. The position is remote but requires extensive regional and national travel to conduct training, perform site audits, and support field operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities * Develop, coordinate, and implement KMM’s national safety strategy and supporting programs. * Establish and maintain safety processes and procedures for cell tower construction and EF\&I operations. * Manage safety charters, SLAs, KPIs, and compliance tools, including safety handbooks, site-specific safety plans, and AHAs/JHAs. * Ensure compliance with OSHA, NATE, NWSA, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. * Conduct site safety inspections, hazard assessments, and daily Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs). * Lead toolbox talks, safety briefings, and on-site coaching for field crews. * Review and approve rigging plans, fall-protection systems, lift procedures, and tower-specific safety requirements. * Support planning and execution of high-risk activities, including critical lifts and elevated-work operations. * Coordinate third-party safety reviews, including OSHA and client audits. * Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective-action development. * Track and report safety performance metrics and trends to leadership. * Maintain accurate documentation including incident reports, training records, audits, and compliance files. * Deliver regional and local safety training programs, including: * Tower climbing & rescue * Fall protection * Rigging & hoisting * RF awareness * OSHA compliance * Provide mentorship and coaching to field personnel, supervisors, and new hires. * Ensure all employees maintain required certifications (OSHA, NWSA, CommTrain, Train-the-Trainer, etc.). * Develop and implement training materials, procedures, and competency evaluations. * Ability and willingness to climb and work at heights on towers, rooftops, and elevated structures, and to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including exposure to active construction sites. * Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. * Ability and willingness to travel extensively by air and vehicle to job sites, warehouses, and training locations. * Remote office environment with frequent travel to job sites, warehouses, and training locations. Job Requirements * 8–10+ years of national safety program experience in telecom, utility, power, or transmission industries. * 5+ years of construction safety experience, including field-based oversight. * Experience in wireless, telecommunications, tower construction, or public utility environments required. * Train-the-Trainer certifications required (CommTrain preferred or must be obtained promptly). * Safety management certifications preferred (CSP, CHSP, CHST, STS, etc.). * Demonstrated competency in crane, rigging, fall protection, excavation, and heavy-equipment safety. * Strong experience working across cross-functional teams and diverse stakeholder groups. * Bachelor’s degree required. * Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, Excel, PowerPoint). * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present to senior leadership. * Strong project-management skills with commitment to safety, operational efficiency, and cost control.
