Position Summary: We are seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer with deep expertise in AWS as the primary platform, coupled with solid working knowledge of Microsoft Azure. You will lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our new AWS environment while ensuring interoperability and integration with existing Azure-based systems. This is a hands-on role where you will architect infrastructure from the ground up, ensuring security, scalability, and operational excellence across both cloud providers. You will work alongside a highly skilled automation and infrastructure team, bridging the gap between software engineering and infrastructure-as-code. Your contributions will directly enable our cloud-native workloads, business automation pipelines, and high-availability systems in the mortgage technology space. Responsibilities: AWS Environment Build-Out: • Architect and deploy a secure, scalable, and cost-optimized AWS environment to support applications, data platforms, and DevOps workflows. • Ensure integration points and secure connectivity with Azure resources where applicable. Azure Environment Support: • Collaborate on the design and optimization of Azure services that interface with AWS workloads. • Assist with Azure resource provisioning, networking, and security to ensure seamless hybrid-cloud operations. Infrastructure as Code (IaC) • Implement and maintain infrastructure using tools such as Terraform/OpenTofu, CloudFormation, CDK, or Bicep for Azure. • Enforce version-controlled, reviewable, and automated deployments across AWS and Azure environments. Security & Compliance • Apply best practices for IAM, networking, and data protection across both AWS and Azure. • Ensure compliance with mortgage industry standards and applicable regulations. Automation & CI/CD • Design and manage CI/CD pipelines (particularly Azure DevOps) for infrastructure and application deployments in both AWS and Azure. Networking & Connectivity • Implement secure VPC design, PrivateLink endpoints, and hybrid connectivity between AWS, Azure, and on-premises environments. Monitoring & Observability • Deploy and configure monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions (e.g., CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, OpenTelemetry, Datadog, Prometheus/Grafana). Collaboration • Partner with application developers, data engineers, and business automation teams to ensure infrastructure meets workload requirements across clouds. Cost Management • Continuously monitor and optimize AWS spend while also contributing to Azure cost governance strategies. Qualifications: Must-Have Technical Skills • 5+ years in DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering, or Cloud Infrastructure roles. • Proven experience architecting and deploying production AWS environments from scratch. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure fundamentals, including networking, security, and resource management. • Strong hands-on AWS experience with: • Compute: EC2, ECS, Lambda • Networking: VPC, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink, Route 53 • Storage: S3, EFS, FSx • Security: IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager • Data: RDS, Aurora, DynamoDB, and integration with data pipelines • Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/OpenTofu preferred; experience with Azure Bicep a plus). • Strong Linux administration and automation skills (Python, Bash, or PowerShell). • CI/CD experience with modern pipelines, Azure DevOps, and GitOps workflows. • Deep understanding of cloud security principles across AWS and Azure. Preferred Skills • Experience integrating AWS and Azure environments for hybrid workloads. • Knowledge of Snowflake connectivity and data ingestion patterns. • Experience in mortgage, financial services, or other regulated industries. • Observability stack setup (CloudWatch, Azure Monitor, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Grafana). Soft Skills • Strong problem-solving ability and initiative. • Ability to work independently in a lean team environment. • Excellent communication and documentation skills. • Collaborative mindset with a focus on enabling developer productivity. Why Join Us • Build a greenfield AWS environment from the ground up while leveraging Azure where beneficial. • Work in a modern, automation-first engineering culture. • Collaborate with a small but highly skilled team, with room to innovate and take ownership. • Direct impact on high-value business systems in a rewarding industry.
