Assistant Director of Finance – Detroit, MI (Boutique Hotel)Reports to: Director of Finance | ExemptAbout the RoleSeeking an experienced Assistant Director of Finance to support the financial operations of a boutique hotel property. This role partners closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and strategic decision-making. You’ll be the go-to resource on accounting processes, GAAP compliance, and the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts. Ideal candidates are hands-on leaders who can balance strategy and execution, thrive in collaboration, and enjoy guiding others.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in preparation of property budgets and financial forecastsProcess bi-weekly payroll and oversee income controls, payables, and receivablesTrain and onboard property team members on accounting standards and processesSupport financial systems implementation and accounting proceduresPrepare daily reporting including revenue, labor, and cash reconciliationConduct financial analysis to support business decisionsAssist with month-end closing, balance sheet reconciliations, and required reportingSupport guest inquiries when needed and assist management with other dutiesLeadership ExpectationsFoster a positive, team-first work environmentDemonstrate ownership, accountability, and self-directionRecommend improvements to processes, service, and operationsMaintain organization, compliance, and high service standardsCollaborate with other departments as neededWork a flexible schedule to support business needsQualifications2-year degree in Finance, Accounting, or Hospitality Management preferredMinimum 2 years of progressive finance and management experienceHotel accounting/finance background strongly preferredExperience with balance sheet reconciliations (bank, cash, credit card)Work EnvironmentProfessional finance office settingPositive, collaborative cultureBenefitsPaid time off, including volunteer PTOStrong culture of equity, inclusion, and belongingComplimentary shift meals and food & beverage discountsDiscounted hotel room rates for associates and guestsOptional pet insurance401k for full-time associatesMedical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance eligibility for full-time associatesEqual OpportunityAll qualified applicants are welcome.
