This role is responsible for investigative quality, compliance oversight, and primary coordination with City stakeholders. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee all background investigations conducted under the Oakland contract Ensure full compliance with POST standards, FCRA, California Civil Code, and City requirements Review and approve Personal History Statements (PHS) Conduct complex or escalated candidate interviews Perform final quality review and grading of investigative files prior to City submission Prepare and deliver complete investigative reports to Fire Department leadership Participate in Character Review meetings as requested Oversee investigator workload and surge capacity during academy cycles Serve as the primary point of contact between KENTECH and the City Required Qualifications Extensive experience conducting public safety background investigations Demonstrated working knowledge of California POST Background Investigation standards Experience with DOJ and FBI Live Scan processes Strong report-writing, documentation, and decision-making skills Ability to manage high-volume investigations with strict deadlines Proven professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality handling
