Early Childhood Special Education Deadline: August 8, 2025 District/Organization: Van Dyke Public Schools Position/Type: Teacher, full time Salary: Per Master Agreement Position Details Position Summary: The Early Childhood Special Education Teacher (ECSE) will instruct young students of varied disabilities while evaluating and monitoring student progress on a periodic basis. Minimum Qualifications: • Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution • Must possess a valid Michigan Teaching Certificate or Michigan Temporary Teaching Authorization (T2EA), with an endorsement in Special Education and Early Childhood (ZS or ZA). Essential Functions: • Instruction and IEP Implementation: • Design and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned instruction for preschoolers with disabilities, including differentiated instruction and early literacy/motor development. • Lead the development, implementation and progress monitoring of IEP goals in partnership with families and the IEP team. • Conduct annual review, re-evaluation, and initial IEP meetings • Work closely with classroom aides and paraprofessionals to implement individualized instruction and support. • Family and Community Engagement • Maintain ongoing communication with families • Act as liaison between families, school staff, and community agencies that have a common interest in supporting the development of the students • Coordinate transition efforts from early intervention services to preschool, and from preschool to kindergarten and elementary programs. • Professionalism and Compliance • Follow all IDEA, Michigan special education rules, district policies and timelines • Maintain timely, compliant required documentation such as report cards, attendance, IEPs, data charts, progress monitoring, behavior logs, service logs and Medicaid billing. • Partner with school-specific teams such as MTSS, district coaches, etc., to support district priorities and outcomes. • Classroom Environment and Functionality • Create and maintain a nurturing, developmentally appropriate classroom environment that encourages participation in play-based and academic learning • Implement positive behavior support and preventative strategies, tracking and teaching appropriate behaviors. • Create a language rich classroom environment that supports the development of expressive and receptive language skills with visual supports to help students with varying levels of abilities. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
