About The Position Embedded within the Sales & Marketing department, the Business Development Proposal Specialist supports the growth activities of the company. This includes assisting with the coordination of the sales proposal process through development of customer specific solutions. They work with subject matter experts to develop targeted, technically accurate content. This position creates and maintains multiple types of sales collateral, including proposal documents and presentation decks, industry and competitor research, and authoring case studies. Business Development Proposal Specialist are focused on the customer experience within Kenco, beginning with marketing and sales processes. Therefore, a key function of this role is assisting with the continuous improvement of these processes and applicable collateral. Finally, Business Development Proposal Specialist support the development and execution of Kenco’s strategic plan. Functions • Works independently with the sales and functional teams to evaluate customer requirements and facilitate solution development based upon Kenco’s capabilities • Clearly describes complex solutions and Kenco’s value proposition through proposals and other written materials • Manages projects from initiation through delivery, including sales pursuit meetings to discuss response strategy • Drafts, edits, and polishes sales pursuit documents to illustrate competitive edge and maintain common voice • Networks and collaborates with business unit stakeholders to influence and enhance the customer sales experience • Performs basic competitor, industry, and market research to support customer focused activities and strategic planning • Provides support to projects and initiatives which influence sales, marketing, lead generation, and strategy activities • Authors and designs multiple types of collateral for internal and external purposes • As needed, attends trade shows/conferences and represents Kenco’s brand to prospective customers Qualifications • B.S./B.A. in marketing, mass communications, journalism, business, or related discipline • 1 - 2 years of experience in sales and marketing required • Advanced proficiency with general office software (i.e. Microsoft Office products) • Exceptional communication, writing, and editing skills • Superior planning, project management, organizational, and follow-up skills • Ability to work independently and cross-functionally • Proactive, solution-oriented, and able to work at a highly detailed level in a fast-paced environment • Strong sales and problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate through a complex organization • Persuasive writing skills as well as the ability to re-write/ edit technical information received from the solutions team • Ability to work on multiple proposals and projects simultaneously • Excellent organization and time-management skills to keep pace with energetic sales and operation teams • Prior experience in warehousing, transportation, and/or supply chain services environment is desired. • Ability to design creative graphics that illustrate complex concepts • Capable and driven to quickly learn new technologies and continually upgrade current skill set • Must be flexible and able to work in a self-directed, rapidly changing environment Competencies • Business Acumen - Knowledgeable in current and possible future policies, practices, trends, technology, and information affecting his/her business and organization. • Communicate for Impact - Proactively communicate with all stakeholders throughout the life cycle of programs and projects. • Influencing Others - Can quickly find common ground and can solve problems for the good of the organization with a minimal amount of noise. Travel Requirements • This position is expected to travel approximately 25% or less. • Minimal travel expected. Periodic travel to conferences, training, and/or customer proposal meetings may be required.
