Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in technical writing or related fields, experience with aerospace or engineering documentation, familiarity with ASD-STE100, strong attention to detail, and U.S. person status.
Technical Writer (Project Based) FAA, aerospace standards REMOTE Key Responsibilities Proofread and Edit NDT Procedures: • Review draft on-wing inspection procedures (typically 10-22 pages, PDF format) for consistency, clarity, and compliance with requirements. Apply Simplified Technical English (STE): • Ensure documents comply with ASD-STE100 guidelines, avoiding prohibited terminology (e.g., gerunds, certain verbs), restructuring sentences for clarity, and using approved STE vocabulary. Verify Consistency: • Confirm all text matches associated figures and tables, correct copy/paste errors (e.g., mismatched inspection location counts), and update numerical data as needed. Cross-Reference Graphics/Data: • Validate visual data (e.g., ultrasonic screen readings, annotated graphics) against written instructions for accuracy. Quality and Accuracy Assurance: • Guarantee a 100% acceptance rate for completed edits; flag discrepancies and maintain a strong attention to detail. Workflow Collaboration: • Integrate seamlessly into Boeing’s document review process, returning proofed procedures for final technical review by leads. Security Compliance: • Work only with non-export-controlled commercial procedures; adhere to all security guidelines requiring U.S. person status. Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Technical Writing, Engineering, Physics, or a related field. • Experience in aerospace, aviation, or engineering documentation—preferably with NDT or maintenance procedures. • Prior exposure to ASD-STE100 Simplified Technical English (formal training a plus, but not required). • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies between text and figures. • Familiarity with editing and annotating PDF documents. • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • Able to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and deliver review-ready documents with minimal oversight. • U.S. person status Preferred Skills • Exposure to NDT techniques, procedures, or terminology (ultrasonics, inspection locations, etc.). • Editorial experience within regulated technical environments (FAA, aerospace standards). • Comfortable interacting remotely with client teams and adapting to evolving workflow processes.
