Job Title: Business Analyst – Insurance (P&C) with Rating Engine Experience Location: Remote (US) Type: Full-Time Preference: Visa-Independent candidates preferred About the Role We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst (BA) with strong expertise in Property & Casualty (P&C) Insurance and Insurance Rating. This is a critical role for our client’s Insurance & P&C transformation program. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience working with rating engines, rating workflows, and detailed understanding of how insurance rates are calculated, configured, and maintained. Candidates must be able to translate complex rating logic into business and technical requirements and work closely with actuarial, underwriting, product, and technology teams. Key Responsibilities • Work directly with business stakeholders, product owners, and SMEs to gather and document requirements for rating, pricing, and underwriting workflows. • Analyze and document rating structures, rating tables, rating formulas, and calculation logic. • Define and validate end-to-end rating workflows and ensure seamless integration with policy administration and underwriting systems. • Collaborate with actuarial teams to understand pricing strategies and convert them into system configurations. • Work with technology teams to ensure accurate implementation of rating rules in rating engines and PAS (Policy Admin Systems). • Conduct gap analysis, impact assessments, and recommend process/system enhancements. • Support UAT, review test cases, and validate rating outputs. • Create high-quality BRDs, FRDs, user stories, and process flow documents. • Ensure rating logic adheres to compliance, regulatory, and state filing guidelines. Required Skills & Experience • 5–8+ years as a Business Analyst in Insurance (P&C) domain. • Mandatory: Hands-on experience with rating engines and rating workflows. • Strong understanding of insurance rating methodologies, factors, algorithms, and state-specific rating requirements. • Experience with rating tools such as: • Guidewire Rating, Duck Creek Rating, Earnix, OneShield, Majesco, or similar. • Ability to read, interpret, and translate rate manuals, rating tables, and actuarial guidelines. • Strong experience writing user stories, BRDs, FRDs, and process maps. • Excellent communication skills with ability to interact with business, technical teams, and leadership. • Experience in agile environments. Preferred Qualifications • Prior experience working with actuarial, underwriting, pricing, or P&C product teams. • Exposure to PAS such as Guidewire PolicyCenter, Duck Creek Policy, or similar. • Certifications such as AAPC, CPCU, AINS, or BA certifications.
