About the Role The VP of Behavioral Health Transformation (BHT) will oversee a portfolio of projects focused on the development of strategy, adoption of best practices, and transformation of tribal and urban Indian health services. This position may work on a variety of topic areas such as behavioral health, substance use disorder (SUD), and suicide prevention. Examples of current work include integrating culturally validated traditional healing and recovery practices for substance use disorders within tribal health clinics. As the leader of the BHT service line, this will be a high-visibility role, requiring frequent interaction with senior leadership from state/federal agencies and national organizations. Responsibilities include: • Ensure project deliverables achieve the highest level of quality possible • Ensure timely and effective coordination with other KAI service lines • Provide leadership and mentorship to the BHT service line team members, in the development, implementation, and oversight of project workplans and deliverables • Provide substantive and content-related support to project teams • Stay abreast of relevant changes in behavioral health, health finance, Indian health policy, and federal Indian law, and ensure these insights are reflected in project deliverables and communications • Deepen and broaden the knowledge of BHT team members on topics relevant to the BHT service line and projects (e.g., Medicaid reimbursement, Indian health policy, trauma-informed care) • Support development and continuous improvement of KAI BHT’s processes, protocols, systems, and quality assurance • Demonstrated oral communication skills, including the ability to talk to a wide variety of people, knowing how to listen, where to look for information, and how to summarize and convey information to expert and non-expert audiences • Facilitate virtual and onsite meetings • Cultural awareness and sensitivity in all internal and external communications • Support proposal and business development process, as needed • Other duties as assigned Qualifications and Experience • Master’s degree in Behavioral Health, Clinical/SUD, Social Science, Nursing, Psychology or related field (PhD preferred) • 10 years of experience managing tribal health, behavioral health, SUD programming, clinical operation programs (required) • 5 years of supervisory experience (required) • Federal contract or grant experience (required) • Experience working with American Indian and Alaska Native communities (required) • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite Supervisory Responsibility This position provides supervisory responsibility to direct reports. Job Conditions The position may require some travel, and may include evening meetings, extended hours, and interruptions from time-to-time. Close computer work for extended periods of time will be required.
