We're seeking a highly experienced Director of Compliance with a Juris Doctor (JD) and multistate long-term care expertise to join our executive team and help lead our compliance program with vision and rigor. Position Summary: The Director of Compliance will oversee all aspects of regulatory compliance across Journey’s multi-state long-term care operations. This leadership role is ideal for a legal professional with deep knowledge of healthcare law, skilled at navigating the complexities of multi-jurisdictional regulations and committed to upholding the highest standards of care and compliance. Key Responsibilities: • Develop, implement, and manage Journey’s corporate compliance program, ensuring adherence to all applicable federal and state long-term care regulations. • Monitor changes in healthcare laws and regulations, proactively updating policies and training programs accordingly. • Lead internal audits and investigations, including risk assessments, and ensure timely remediation of findings. • Collaborate with executive leadership, legal counsel, operations, and clinical teams to promote a culture of compliance. • Serve as the primary liaison with state and federal regulatory bodies, handling surveys, audits, and responses. • Oversee compliance training programs for staff across all levels and locations. • Manage reporting systems for compliance concerns, including anonymous whistleblower hotlines. • Provide legal interpretation and guidance on issues related to healthcare regulations, contracts, HIPAA, Medicaid/Medicare, and licensing. Qualifications: • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active license to practice law in the U.S. • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in healthcare law and regulatory compliance. • Proven track record of compliance leadership in long-term care (SNFs, ALFs, senior living) across multiple states. • Strong understanding of federal and state regulations including CMS guidelines, HIPAA, Stark Law, and Anti-Kickback Statute. • Experience interfacing with CMS, state Departments of Health, and other regulatory agencies. • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills. • Willingness to travel as needed to support on-site compliance and training initiatives. Preferred Skills: • CCO, CHC, or other relevant compliance certification. • Experience leading compliance in a high-growth or acquisitive healthcare environment. • Proficiency with compliance management software and data analytics tools.
