Job Description: Product Manager - Payment Gateway Position Overview The Product Manager - Payment Gateway is responsible for driving the strategy, development, and optimization of our next-generation payment gateway platform. This role blends strategic product leadership with hands-on ownership of critical initiatives across POS, eCommerce, ACH, and alternative payment channels. You will lead a team of Product Owners, ensuring flawless execution while steering the evolution of a scalable, high-performance, AI‑enhanced payment ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Product Strategy & Vision Define and own a forward-looking product vision and multi-year roadmap that aligns with business goals, revenue targets, and emerging market opportunities. Lead end‑to‑end product lifecycle for new payment capabilities, enhancements, and platform modernization efforts. Conduct deep market, regulatory, and competitive analysis to identify gaps, new payment trends, and opportunities for innovation. Develop business cases, value propositions, and prioritization frameworks to guide decision-making. Establish and enforce product governance practices, ensuring alignment with CPP Product Governance schedules, quarterly planning, and cross-functional kickoff cycles. Product Development & Execution Translate business requirements and customer needs into detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria. Ensure clarity and alignment across engineering, QA, UX, compliance, and operations through crisp documentation and effective communication. Oversee technical integrations for card processing, tokenization, ACH, alternative payments, and risk/fraud services. Ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable solutions with attention to reliability, resilience, and performance. Partner with QA to ensure robust test coverage, including automated regression, performance, and security testing. AI First Product Leadership Champion an ‘AI-First’ mindset across the CPP product organization, embedding intelligent automation, predictive insights and real-time decisioning into the payment gateway Drive the adoption of AI/ML to improve operational efficiency across the product team, support, QA, compliance, and engineering. Evaluate emerging AI technologies (LLMs, agent workflows, event-driven ML systems) for potential integration into the CPP Payment Gateway. Team Leadership Manage, mentor and be accountable for a team of product owners, creating a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement Establish and refine product management best practices, frameworks, and processes across the team Provide coaching and professional development opportunities to help team members grow their product management skills Build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the organization Promote a product culture that values experimentation, rapid learning, and data-driven decision-making. Payment Gateway Expertise Maintain a deep understanding of payment processing flows, authorization paths, token vaults, reconciliation, settlement, PCI-DSS, Nacha, and evolving regulatory requirements. Monitor critical KPIs such as authorization rates, latency, uptime, settlement speed, error patterns, and decline codes. Work with engineering to identify and address systemic payment issues, bottlenecks, or opportunities for optimization. Stay current on emerging payment innovations (network tokenization, L3 data, RTP, Open Banking, embedded finance, risk orchestration, etc.). Stakeholder Management Serve as primary point of contact for payment product initiatives, communicating progress, challenges, and opportunities to executive leadership Gather and integrate feedback from merchants, partners, sales, and support teams to inform product decisions Present product strategies, roadmaps, and business cases to senior leadership Collaborate with revenue teams to develop go-to-market strategies and support sales enablement Qualifications 5+ years of Product Mangement or Owner experience, preferably in payments, fintech, or financial services. Experience managing product teams or leading product owners. Strong understanding of card present, card not present, ACH, and payment gateway infrastructure. Experience with AI/ML-powered product capabilities or data-driven optimization. Proven success in delivering complex technical products in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills. What does success in this role look like?
