This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Virtualization & Cloud Platform Engineer in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to design, implement, and optimize enterprise IT infrastructures across both cloud and on-premises environments. You will leverage virtualization technologies and cloud platforms to deliver reliable, scalable, and secure solutions, supporting business-critical systems and applications. The position involves managing Windows Server OS, SQL databases, SUSE Linux, file-sharing services, and automation tools, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency. You will also contribute to the ongoing modernization of IT operations through scripting, monitoring, and cloud optimization initiatives, directly impacting system performance and organizational productivity. This is a hands-on, high-impact position for engineers who enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges and implementing robust, scalable solutions. Accountabilities Design, deploy, and maintain virtualized infrastructure using Hyper-V and Azure Stack HCI. Manage and optimize Windows Server OS environments for performance, reliability, and security. Administer SQL Server databases, including maintenance, backups, tuning, and troubleshooting. Configure and maintain secure enterprise file-sharing services. Support SUSE Linux environments in hybrid OS landscapes. Develop automation scripts (PowerShell, Bash) for provisioning, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance. Implement and manage infrastructure monitoring solutions to proactively identify and resolve performance issues. Administer Windows System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) for deployments, patching, and reporting. Collaborate with IT teams to architect scalable and secure solutions aligned with business needs. Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalate issues when necessary. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent professional experience. 5+ years of experience in virtualization and cloud platforms, specifically Azure Local and Hyper-V. Strong proficiency in Windows Server OS administration and associated services. Hands-on experience managing SQL Server databases and enterprise file share solutions. Demonstrable experience with SUSE Linux administration in hybrid environments. Expert-level scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) for automation and management. Experience deploying and managing monitoring tools such as Azure Monitor, Nagios, or Zabbix. Extensive knowledge of Windows SCCM for system deployment, patching, and configuration management. Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills. Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate across cross-functional teams. Preferred Qualifications: Industry certifications such as Microsoft Azure, MCSE, or Linux certifications. Experience with hybrid cloud environments and migrations.
