In this role, you will lead the design transformation of digital platforms that support youth apprenticeship programs nationwide. You will create user-centric interfaces and experiences that enhance engagement, simplify workflows, and increase retention. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams including product, technology, marketing, and program management to implement accessible, gamified, and AI-powered design solutions. You will conduct user research, validate design decisions, and maintain design systems that ensure consistency across web and mobile applications. This is a full-time, remote-eligible, one-year role with opportunities to influence the strategic direction of digital tools in a mission-driven, high-energy environment. \n Accountabilities: Lead the UX/UI overhaul of core digital platforms including apprenticeship tracking, evaluations, and onboarding flows. Design and implement gamification elements such as badges, leaderboards, and progress dashboards to increase user engagement. Create seamless interfaces for AI-powered tools including personalized training, content recommendations, and career pathway suggestions. Develop onboarding experiences with guided tours, in-app guidance, and interactive tutorials for diverse user roles. Ensure all designs meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards and perform regular accessibility audits. Establish and maintain a comprehensive design system to ensure consistency across web, mobile, and email experiences. Conduct user research, usability testing, and design validation sessions to measure the impact of design improvements. Requirements: 5+ years of UX/UI design experience with complex web and mobile applications. 3+ years designing for education technology, workforce development, or social impact organizations. Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite). Strong understanding of user-centered design principles, accessibility standards, and inclusive design practices. Experience with gamification, engagement design, and AI/ML interface patterns. Knowledge of responsive, mobile-first design and component-based design systems. Ability to collaborate with developers, translate designs into technical requirements, and communicate design concepts to stakeholders. Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
