This role provides the opportunity to lead strategic product and underwriting initiatives within the casualty line of business. You will act as a subject matter expert, guiding enterprise-wide strategies and ensuring the successful implementation of products and programs. The position combines analytical oversight, including profit and loss management and data-driven insights, with hands-on product development and compliance coordination. You will collaborate across corporate departments, branches, and external partners, providing guidance on underwriting policies, coverage, and risk management. Accountabilities: Lead the development and implementation of strategic underwriting and product plans for the assigned casualty line of business. Maintain oversight of profit and loss, analyzing premium, loss, and key performance data to drive profitable growth. Develop, review, and refine products, including drafting coverage language and coordinating marketing strategies. Provide underwriting guidance and best practices across the organization. Act as a strategic partner to branches and corporate departments on complex underwriting issues. Ensure compliance with state, national, and bureau regulations, preparing necessary filings and documentation. Serve as a subject matter expert, advising on complex accounts, system tools, and operational processes. Represent the organization in committees, seminars, and training sessions as needed. Bachelor’s degree in business, insurance, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. Minimum of 10 years of experience in commercial property and casualty underwriting, including at least 3 years in staff underwriting. Professional insurance certifications such as CPCU, AU, or CIC preferred. Deep knowledge of underwriting techniques, policies, and forms, with strong judgment and decision-making skills. Proven ability to analyze KPIs and implement strategies to improve profitability. Advanced communication and presentation skills for technical and non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving abilities and ability to work independently or collaboratively. Familiarity with computer systems, internet research, and office software. Occasional travel required; valid driver’s license necessary. Competitive salary with a range depending on location ($109,818–$173,534).
