We are looking for an experienced System Administrator to support and maintain a federal agency's on-premises IT infrastructure. In this fully remote role, you will oversee enterprise Windows Server environments, ensuring their stability, security, and performance. You will play a key role in server administration, vulnerability management, patching, backups, and incident response. Working closely with infrastructure and security teams, you will help strengthen operational resilience and maintain compliance with federal security requirements. You will also contribute to infrastructure modernization initiatives, technical documentation, and continuous security improvements. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a mission-critical environment while working remotely. \n Accountabilities: Administer and maintain Windows Server 2019/2022 environments, including installation, configuration, upgrades, security patching, and scheduled maintenance. Monitor backup and storage systems, investigate alerts, troubleshoot issues, and ensure data recovery readiness. Conduct vulnerability scans and coordinate remediation activities using Tenable/Nessus, including analyzing and reporting scan results in collaboration with security teams. Support incident response activities by triaging technical issues, investigating infrastructure incidents, and documenting remediation actions. Contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives, including Windows Server 2016 retirement, IIS enhancements, and logging improvements. Assist with the preparation of security authorization documentation and supporting evidence. Maintain operational security practices through service account reviews and password rotation coordination. Develop and maintain technical documentation and records across program offices. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant professional experience. A Master's degree is preferred. 7–10 years of experience in IT, systems administration, or a similar technical role. Strong enterprise-level experience administering, maintaining, and patching Windows Server environments. Hands-on proficiency with Tenable/Nessus vulnerability scanning, management, remediation tracking, and reporting. Experience supporting incident response processes, infrastructure troubleshooting, and technical issue resolution. Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, operational security practices, and system maintenance procedures. Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and security teams. CompTIA A+ or ITIL certification is preferred. Experience with Azure infrastructure and network routing is an additional advantage. Must be a U.S. citizen with no dual citizenship and able to successfully pass a federal background investigation to obtain access to sensitive information. Benefits: Annual salary: $115,000–$132,000. Full-time, fully remote work arrangement within the United States. Opportunity to contribute to critical federal IT infrastructure and security initiatives.
