This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Software Engineer in the United States. This role offers the opportunity to lead the technical direction of high-impact engineering teams, designing and implementing scalable distributed systems and APIs. You will shape architecture roadmaps, define best practices, and deliver innovative solutions across complex, high-traffic platforms. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams including Product, Data Science, and Technical Operations, you will mentor engineers, improve development processes, and leverage emerging technologies like AI to enhance software delivery. This position is ideal for someone passionate about solving complex technical challenges and driving scalable solutions that impact millions of users. Accountabilities · Architect and implement scalable distributed systems, APIs, and data pipelines to support high-volume consumer-facing services. · Lead the design and development of major software components and features, ensuring quality, maintainability, and performance. · Debug production issues across services and layers of the stack, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks. · Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Data Science, and Technical Operations to align technical strategies and delivery. · Develop and maintain long-term architecture roadmaps, setting technical vision and standards for the team. · Mentor and guide engineers on coding best practices, design patterns, and process improvements. · Drive efficiencies in the software development lifecycle, incorporating AI and other emerging technologies where appropriate. · Monitor platform performance and reliability, ensuring service-level objectives for response time and capacity are met. · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience; Master’s preferred. · 10+ years of professional software engineering experience. · Advanced proficiency in Ruby on Rails and experience with React and micro-frontends. · Strong skills in designing and optimizing relational databases (e.g., MySQL). · Familiarity with GraphQL, gRPC, event-driven architectures, and NoSQL databases. · Expertise in the full software development lifecycle including CI/CD, testing, and source control. · Proven experience leading complex technical initiatives and mentoring engineering teams. · Passion for leveraging AI and emerging technologies to improve development efficiency and product quality. · Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. · Preferred experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and active involvement in open source or tech communities. · Competitive base salary: $150,000 – $180,000, with eligibility for performance bonuses. · Comprehensive health coverage including medical, dental, and vision plans. · Retirement savings plans (401k) with company match and equity participation (if applicable). · Paid time off, family leave programs, and flexible work arrangements. · Opportunities for professional growth, mentorship, and contributing to impactful projects. · Remote work flexibility depending on location eligibility.
