This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Staff Backend Software Engineer in the United States. This role is perfect for a seasoned backend engineer who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. You will work closely with design, product, and engineering teams to build scalable, high-quality applications that enhance the customer experience. The position offers the opportunity to lead technical initiatives, mentor junior engineers, and shape engineering standards across multiple product teams. You will play a key role in designing enterprise-grade architectures, implementing distributed systems, and driving the adoption of best practices in software development. Accountabilities · Lead the design, development, and deployment of robust backend systems using Java, JEE, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, and Spring Security. · Navigate the full application lifecycle in collaboration with designers, product managers, and engineers. · Architect enterprise-grade applications with scalable, distributed caching technologies such as Redis. · Manage database design and implementation for SQL and NoSQL solutions. · Lead requirements refinement, planning, estimation, development, testing, and deployment across product teams. · Mentor and support junior engineers through pairing sessions, one-on-ones, and ad-hoc guidance. · Champion XP (Extreme Programming) practices while contributing to cultural transformation through collaboration, feedback, and technical leadership. · 6+ years of professional software development experience. · Expertise in Java and JEE development, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Batch, and Spring Security. · Experience with build management tools (Gradle, Maven) and source control (Git). · Strong knowledge of application design patterns, event-driven architecture, database schemas, and testing strategies. · Experience with distributed caching technologies such as Redis. · Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and large-scale application troubleshooting/performance tuning. · Knowledge of continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and test-driven development (TDD). · Excellent collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills. · Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field; familiarity with XP (Extreme Programming). · Competitive salary and performance-based incentives. · Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance. · Retirement savings plan with company match. · Flexible work arrangements. · Paid vacation, holidays, and wellness programs. · Opportunities for professional development and career growth. · Supportive, inclusive, and collaborative work environment.
