This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Software Engineer (C++, Python) based in United States. This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building and evolving sophisticated, data-intensive software for financial markets. You will contribute to a high-performance product that processes billions of records daily for financial institutions worldwide. The role combines hands-on development with architectural decision-making, cloud adoption, testing, production support, and internal tooling. You will work across C++ and Python while collaborating closely with product, operations, and engineering teams. Your work will directly support trade surveillance, monitoring, analysis, and the transparency and resilience of financial markets. This is an opportunity to solve complex technical problems while helping shape scalable systems and development standards. \n Accountabilities Develop, maintain, and enhance complex, data-driven software components and systems, with a primary focus on C++ and Python. Contribute to the architectural direction of the product by evaluating technologies, technical approaches, and cloud-based architectures. Build and improve testing infrastructure while developing comprehensive automated tests to strengthen software quality and reliability. Partner with operations teams to investigate and resolve production issues, while identifying opportunities to incorporate permanent improvements into the product. Develop internal tools that improve deployment, administration, monitoring, and operational efficiency. Collaborate closely with product teams to understand, clarify, and refine feature requirements and technical specifications. Establish and continuously improve software development standards, engineering best practices, quality processes, and deployment workflows. Evaluate whether to integrate third-party technologies or build new components internally based on technical requirements, maintainability, and business needs. Contribute to technical discussions, knowledge sharing, and engineering initiatives across a distributed team. Participate in interviewing and evaluating candidates for engineering positions. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or another relevant technical discipline. 5+ years of experience solving complex problems involving sophisticated, distributed, data-driven, and highly performant software applications. Strong hands-on programming experience in multiple languages, including professional proficiency in both C++ and Python. Experience working with AWS or comparable cloud technology stacks, with a solid understanding of how to leverage cloud architectures effectively. Experience improving software development, quality assurance, release, and deployment processes. Demonstrated ability to integrate third-party software systems as well as design and build components from the ground up. Strong understanding of relational databases, SQL, and core relational database concepts. Professional experience working in Linux environments and confidence using the command line and shell tools. Ability to write effective shell scripts and one-liners while recognizing when a more robust software solution is appropriate. Experience using Git or comparable source code management systems. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work through technically complex challenges. Ability to work effectively in a distributed environment, both independently and collaboratively. Excellent written and verbal communication, organization, and task-management skills.
