This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Azure Engineer based in the United States. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, operating, and securing cloud and server infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and on-premises environments. You will help modernize infrastructure by migrating workloads, applications, and data to Azure while ensuring reliability, scalability, and security. The position combines hands-on engineering with infrastructure strategy, troubleshooting, monitoring, and operational improvement. You will collaborate with network, storage, security, application, and infrastructure teams to maintain resilient systems that support critical business operations. A strong focus on information security, disaster recovery, business continuity, and vulnerability management makes this role central to operational resilience. You will also evaluate emerging cloud technologies and develop sustainable processes that improve infrastructure performance and efficiency. The position offers the opportunity to work independently, influence technical decisions, and potentially lead professional staff within a growing technology environment. \n Accountabilities Design and execute migrations of on-premises infrastructure, server workloads, applications, and data to Microsoft Azure. Evaluate existing and proposed infrastructure solutions and participate in the design and implementation of cloud and server environments. Research, test, and implement emerging cloud technologies that improve performance, scalability, security, and user experience. Manage Azure cloud resources, including virtual machines, resource groups, role assignments, storage accounts, file shares, App Services, virtual networks, subnets, VPNs, and monitoring configurations. Manage cloud-based Windows and Linux virtual servers and participate in the ongoing operation of physical and virtual server environments. Configure Azure monitoring, alerts, capacity management, security controls, and user access to ensure reliable cloud operations. Administer Azure Active Directory, including synchronization between on-premises and cloud environments, AADDS, and Group Policy. Develop and maintain PowerShell and Azure PowerShell scripts to support infrastructure administration and operational efficiency. Plan and implement Organizational Unit structures and corresponding Group Policy configurations. Collaborate with security teams to monitor and respond to threats, vulnerabilities, and security incidents affecting corporate assets. Investigate infrastructure incidents, troubleshoot complex server and systems issues, and contribute to security incident response activities. Review emerging vulnerabilities and assess their potential impact on servers, systems, applications, and business operations. Develop and implement secure, sustainable operational processes for server and systems administration. Work closely with network, storage, virtualization, and other infrastructure teams to maintain reliable systems aligned with business objectives. Develop system maintenance schedules and contribute to both short-term tactical plans and long-term infrastructure strategies. Assess the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and implement improvements or opportunities for greater utilization. Support server audits, backup procedures, disaster recovery activities, and business continuity processes. Ensure infrastructure operations comply with applicable internal policies, regulatory requirements, security standards, and industry controls. Exercise independent judgment in day-to-day operations while contributing to broader infrastructure planning and technical decision-making. Provide technical leadership and, where applicable, supervise professional staff or manage specialized infrastructure functions. Requirements High school diploma or GED required; a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is preferred. Typically 5+ years of relevant professional experience, specialized training, advanced education, certifications, or an equivalent combination of experience and qualifications. At least 3 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including setup, configuration, design, migration, and ongoing support. At least 2 years of server engineering experience, preferably involving enterprise server and storage solutions; NetApp experience is a plus. Intermediate to expert knowledge of Tier One server hardware and Windows Server technologies. Strong experience with Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, SCCM, SQL, Exchange, SharePoint, and Citrix environments. Experience with server virtualization technologies such as VMware and Citrix. Solid understanding of information technology and information security, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection, logging, and related security technologies. Knowledge of Unix/Linux, Windows, networking components, internet protocols, PKI, PGP, and digital certificates. Strong understanding of Azure infrastructure services, including Azure Virtual Machines, networking, storage, resource groups, role assignments, App Services, and monitoring. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills, particularly in infrastructure, networking, systems design, and technical support. Ability to assess technology and operations from a customer perspective and align infrastructure decisions with business objectives. Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and operate effectively with minimal supervision. Experience with security engineering management, vendor management, audits, or regulatory compliance is a plus. Knowledge of regulatory requirements and security frameworks such as FFIEC, SOX, GLBA, ISO 17799, COBIT, and PCI DSS is advantageous. Familiarity with IT control areas including change management, software development lifecycle processes, and IT operations. Strong working knowledge of Active Directory, Windows Server, and Microsoft Azure. Azure certification is a plus. Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across infrastructure, security, network, storage, and application teams.
