This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of Coder. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer (VS Code Contractor) in United States, Ireland, Poland, Canada, United Kingdom. This is a contract-based opportunity for a skilled software engineer passionate about enhancing developer tools and experiences. In this fully remote role, you'll work closely with product and engineering teams to evolve and maintain a high-impact open-source VS Code extension. You’ll focus on front-end feature development, technical documentation, and integration improvements that support both internal users and enterprise clients. If you're a TypeScript expert with a collaborative mindset and interest in open-source, this role offers both flexibility and influence. Accountabilities: Contribute to the design and development of an open-source VS Code extension, writing clean and scalable TypeScript code. Improve extension architecture, usability, and integration with the core development platform. Write clear and accessible documentation for internal teams and external users. Collaborate with Customer Success teams to resolve issues and support enterprise users. Participate in shaping technical decisions and repository structure to optimize developer experience. Based in the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, or Poland. 3+ years of professional full-stack development experience, with strong TypeScript proficiency. Familiarity with Go and shell scripting. Active presence on open-source platforms (e.g., GitHub or GitLab). Experience working across operating systems and understanding of basic networking protocols (IP, TCP, TLS, SSH, HTTP). Background in maintaining open-source libraries or plugins is a strong plus. Remote work with flexible hours (initially up to 40 hours/week, expected to taper down over time). Flat monthly rate of $10K USD (converted to local currency where applicable).
