Full Description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer II, Solutions Engineering based in United States. This role sits within a Solutions Engineering team focused on turning customer and implementation challenges into scalable technical solutions. You will build and ship tooling, automations, and integrations that reduce manual effort and improve operational efficiency. The position combines hands-on backend development with root-cause investigation and cross-functional problem solving. You will primarily work with Ruby on Rails, PostgreSQL, APIs, integrations, and workflow automation platforms. The role offers exposure to a varied technical stack while encouraging reusable solutions rather than one-off customizations. You will collaborate with senior engineers, product, commercial, and implementation stakeholders while supporting production systems through an on-call rotation. It is an opportunity to grow your engineering craft while delivering measurable improvements in a fast-moving, technology-driven environment. \n Accountabilities: Design, build, test, and ship internal tooling and integrated solutions that eliminate repetitive manual work. Develop automations for file processing, migrations, eligibility, contracting, billing edge cases, and other operational workflows. Own enhancements and moderately complex features across automation and integration systems. Build and maintain API-driven integrations across service boundaries. Extend existing templates, engineering standards, and automation frameworks to create reusable solutions. Investigate implementation challenges and escalations to identify underlying root causes. Recommend and contribute to preventative fixes when recurring issues indicate broader system or process improvements. Collaborate with senior engineers and system owners when work requires deeper architectural changes or spans multiple systems. Partner with commercial, product, engineering, and implementation stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technical solutions. Apply AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully to accelerate coding, testing, and solution delivery while maintaining quality standards. Debug production issues, identify performance bottlenecks, and implement appropriate optimizations. Participate in the software development lifecycle from problem definition through implementation, testing, release, and maintenance. Contribute to technical investigations and internal support efforts involving customer or member-impacting systems. Participate in the on-call rotation, triaging and resolving issues in a timely manner. Assist internal teams with technical investigations and provide clear explanations of root causes and resolutions. Pair with senior engineers to expand technical knowledge and strengthen design, architecture, and code-quality practices. Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering practices, automation capabilities, and reusable technical solutions. Requirements: 3–5 years of professional experience writing readable, tested, efficient production software. Strong Ruby on Rails experience is preferred, with openness to exceptional backend engineers who can ramp quickly on Rails. Experience working with relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL. Proven experience building and consuming APIs and integrations across service boundaries. Hands-on experience with workflow automation platforms such as Tines, n8n, or comparable tools. Experience designing and implementing API-driven automation workflows. Practical experience using AI coding assistants as part of a day-to-day software development workflow. A thoughtful, quality-focused approach to determining where AI-assisted development is appropriate and where human engineering judgment is required. Track record of delivering measurable improvements to clearly defined technical or business problems. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and optimization skills. Solid understanding of software development lifecycle processes and engineering frameworks. Ability to understand and work within unfamiliar codebases with appropriate support. Good judgment about when to independently investigate an issue and when to involve engineers who own the relevant system. Strong communication skills and the ability to translate between business requirements and technical implementation. Ability to collaborate effectively with commercial, product, engineering, and implementation stakeholders. Experience working in environments where production reliability and timely issue resolution are important. Familiarity with modern front-end frameworks such as React or Vue is a plus. Experience in healthcare or another regulated or data-sensitive industry is advantageous. Exposure to solutions engineering, implementation, or customer-facing technical work is beneficial, including through internships, rotations, or project-based experience. Benefits: Base salary ranging from $128,000–$160,000 in Zone 3, $140,800–$176,000 in Zone 2, or $147,200–$184,000 in Zone 1, depending on geographic location. Competitive salary with eligibility for a generous annual cash bonus. Equity grants. Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP). Remote-first work-from-home culture. Flexible Time Off to support rest, personal commitments, and time with loved ones. Generous parental leave. Medical, dental, and vision insurance with above-market employer contributions. 401(k) retirement savings plan. Lifestyle Spending Account (LSA). Mental health support solutions. U.S.-only employment eligibility, with the role limited to candidates residing in one of the 50 U.S. states due to the handling of personal health information. \n How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
