This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Software Engineer AFRL in the United States. This is a unique opportunity for an experienced software engineer to contribute to cutting-edge AI-powered simulation and geospatial intelligence projects. The role involves designing, developing, and maintaining software that generates realistic, large-scale population and activity simulations to support mission-critical research and national security initiatives. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams in an Agile environment to deliver innovative solutions that integrate with AI, big data, and cloud technologies. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in software development, thrives in collaborative environments, and is passionate about delivering high-quality, mission-focused solutions. Accountabilities: Design, develop, test, and implement software solutions for population and activity simulations. Collaborate with end users and stakeholders to define requirements and translate them into achievable project timelines. Participate in Agile teams to develop back-end systems, maintain technical documentation, and implement efficient, testable code. Contribute to architecture planning, coding standards, and software release processes. Provide technical support, consultation, and troubleshooting for application and infrastructure questions. Ensure software solutions integrate effectively with cloud environments, big data tools, and simulation platforms. Participate in technical demonstrations, trade shows, seminars, and user group events as needed. Minimum of 5 years of experience in software engineering roles. Strong coding expertise in Java and Python, with an emphasis on quality and testability. Experience designing, building, scaling, and maintaining production software systems. Knowledge of DevOps practices, continuous integration, and software configuration management tools (GitLab, JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, Nexus). Proficiency with SQL and NoSQL databases and query optimization. Experience acquiring client requirements and implementing solutions that optimize workflows. Familiarity with population or other data simulation, geospatial engineering, and cloud computing (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure). Strong data visualization and problem-solving skills. Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in software development.
