We are seeking a skilled Back-end Software Engineer to join a high-impact team focused on building a cutting-edge Message Detection Engine. In this role, you will design, implement, and optimize backend systems that analyze vast volumes of data to detect and prevent security threats in real time. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to transform raw message data into actionable signals, helping protect enterprises from sophisticated cyberattacks. Accountabilities Architect, build, and deploy backend services and infrastructure for a real-time Detection Engine. Analyze false positives and false negatives to derive insights and implement heuristic and model-based detectors. Design and maintain feature extraction pipelines that transform raw email and behavioral data into structured signals. Optimize backend services to ensure high performance, reliability, and scalability of detection capabilities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver projects from concept to production. Coach and mentor junior engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Applied Sciences, Information Systems, or related engineering field. 3+ years of professional experience building data-oriented products and backend services. Strong experience with real-time, online, or high-throughput low-latency distributed systems. Proficient in data analysis and metrics-driven system optimization. Strong debugging and problem-solving skills using log analytics, metrics, and monitoring tools. Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working across engineering and data science teams. Nice to have: experience with ML systems or distributed system technologies, Python or Go programming, cybersecurity domain knowledge, or a Master’s degree in a related field. Competitive salary range: $148,800 – $175,050 USD (base) and $165,000 – $195,000 USD for San Francisco/New York bases. Eligibility for bonus and restricted stock units (RSUs).
